Celebrating Grandma's Day

There are many different holidays: national and international, serious and playful, secular and religious. We all love to celebrate and relax, hosting dear guests at home, or meeting different people at social events. One of our favorite holidays is Grandmother's Day.

This holiday appeared in Russia not so long ago, in 2009, but every year it is gaining popularity. Grandmother's Day is celebrated in more than 30 countries, but there is no single official date, it is celebrated at different times of the year. In Russia, the holiday falls on October 28. This day was not chosen by chance. At the end of October (according to the Slavic tradition), various rituals were held to honor ancestors and family traditions.

The Grandmother's Day holiday appeared thanks to the initiative of the Dutch Flower Bureau, which offered to congratulate grandparents on this day, make them happy and give bouquets of flowers or beautiful indoor plants. Any grandmother will be very happy to see her grandchildren with flowers. This holiday helps different generations to treat each other with warmth and understanding, to realize that they are loved and needed by their loved ones. It's good that they came up with such an excuse to say nice words to grandma,appreciating her gentle caring hands and kind heart.

Who bakes the most delicious pancakes and pies? Who sings soulful lullabies and tells interesting stories before going to bed? Of course, they are our dear grandmothers. In our country, the situation is still very common when grandparents take care of the child, giving parents the opportunity to work in peace.

Grandmothers are different. There are grandmothers who live in villages, waiting for their children and grandchildren, dreaming of giving them fresh milk to drink, treating them with fresh strawberries or apples from the garden. Someone's grandmother is a craftswoman-needlewoman: so that the legs of her beloved grandchildren are warm, so that the hands do not freeze, she will knit both socks and mittens with love. There are completely different grandmothers, "advanced", who travel a lot and go in for sports, and do not forget about their personal lives. But, no matter what grandmothers are, they still remain our most beloved and dear ones.

Grandparents decorate our childhood with warmth and comfort, give good advice based on their own experience, wrap us in tenderness and care. How can we thank them? Let's put aside our numerous affairs at least on this family holiday, finally devote our time and attention to our dear grannies, congratulate them with all our hearts, find the warmest words for them.

An evening of memories over a cup of tea or grandmother's favorite pastime will be a great gift. And let's not forget that every family hasyour Grandmother's Day is her birthday. If the granddaughter comes and tells the verse to the grandmother on her birthday, the grandmother will probably shed tears of tenderness and be happy. She does not need expensive gifts, she has long understood the true value of things - there is nothing more precious than the attention and love of loved ones. Therefore, a birthday greeting to a grandmother can be anything, the main thing is that it comes from a pure heart.
