In Soviet times, in the era of scarcity, mothers of girls also tried to acquire bed linen, dishes, and so on. However, by the time of the wedding, these things were unsuitable as a dowry.
Modern bridal dowry
In the modern world, this tradition has gradually faded away. However, it is still present in some nationalities. For example, among the peoples of the Caucasus, from birth, girls start a chest in the house, which is gradually filled. It is made from craftsmen or bought ready-made.
Things included in the dowry, according to tradition, should only be new. Usually the bride's family prepares not only everything necessary for the future married life, but also gifts for the groom's family.
