No matter how zealously environmentalists fight with humanity in the issue of people using plastic bags, their diversity is increasing, functionality is expanding, and the “bags” themselves litter apartments, landfills and the environment. What is a zip bag? Despite its rather unusual name, such packaging has appeared in everyday life for a long time. In the West - back in the 60s of the last century, in Russia a little later - in the nineties. True, then there were few of them; packages with a zip lock began to be sold in the public domain only in recent years. Zip-lock bags were created quite deliberately. It happened in the USA in 1951 when Flexigrip Inc set out to invent a flexible container that could be closed. The innovative development was brought to its final form for more than one year, the experience of the Japanese company Seisan Nippon Sha was also used, which invented the minigrip latch, the rights to it were bought by the Americans, renaming their brainchild to Minigrip Inc.

Only in 1968, after 15 years of operation of the company, its owners managed to establish the production of products that could be mass-produced and then sold on the market. The pioneers resold the license to manufacture products to everyone, so the zip package appeared in Europe.

Do they produce similar packaging in Russia?

In the domestic market, these products are represented by both imported samples and products of our own production. Zip-lock import packages are most often Chineseproducts. Its advantage is its low price, but its quality, of course, is very “lame”. Most of the complaints from consumers are caused by the rapid wear of the lock, as well as the unreliable soldering of the package itself.

Russian products are about 10-15% more expensive. Its manufacturers claim that their bags are stronger and more durable. In addition, they offer a wide variety of packaging options. The material from which the bags are made (plastic, paper, multilayer products, including those with a metallized insert), their size, color, package design, and lock may differ. Zip package is of several types. Classification can be carried out according to several characteristics. The first is, in fact, what kind of lock the package is equipped with. This may be the traditional system, which assumes that the bag contains polypropylene strips on both sides in the upper part, which are tightly closed to each other. Such a lock can be made in two ways:

• extrusion method - when the fastener appears on the package immediately during the manufacturing process;
• welded lock - in this version, it is already soldered by a special device to the finished package.

There are also zippered bags. These are most often products intended for various household trifles, but they can also be quite large.sizes.

Well, as already mentioned, the materials from which the zip bag is made differ. The most popular, due to its low cost and practicality, is polyethylene. There are also packages made of paper, PVC film, foil material.

However, in the finished product, such packages usually do not contain a zip lock, they are simply soldered and cannot be reused. Kraft bags are also a very common type of packaging among consumers. Its shape is non-standard - it is not just a rectangular bag, but a container with a bottom at the bottom. Such bags are usually filled with coffee, tea, spices, cereals, breakfast cereals, etc.

Who needs it?
