How nice it is to see dad with a child, even tears sometimes come from tenderness. Who, if not dad, will support and understand in a difficult life situation? Most often, it is easier for children to communicate and be frank with their father than with their mother. The harmonious development of the child depends equally on both the mother and the father. And somehow it turns out unfairly - everyone and everywhere celebrates Mother's Day, but International Father's Day is often bypassed.

What date is Father's Day?

International Father's Day is a young holiday. It is celebrated in 52 countries, but at different times. For example, in England and Lithuania, World Father's Day is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of June. In the USA, Holland, Canada, China, France and Japan, the 3rd Sunday of the same month is set aside for this holiday. In our country, International Father's Day also took place in June, but only on the 2nd Sunday. Last year, this wonderful holiday fell on the 17th. Happy dads accepted congratulationsand enjoyed everyone's attention. In the same year, the holiday fell on June 9.

A bit of Father's Day history

All countries are different, with their own mentality, with their own principles and values. That is why the history of the holiday is different everywhere. We owe the emergence of such a holiday as International Father's Day to the United States, since it was there that the celebration of this wonderful day was first celebrated in 1909. The idea of creating a holiday belongs to Sonora Smart Dodd. The American thereby wanted to express gratitude to her father, who raised 6 children alone after the death of his wife. This event became massive only in 1910, on June 19. Since that day, in almost every family, International Father's Day has become a tradition. The holiday became official only in 1966. At about the same time, the holiday is celebrated in Canada, China.

Features of Father's Day in different countries

1. Canada. The word "father" means "fatherland" in this country, so the holiday symbolizes the guarantee of preserving family values.

2. China. On this day, the oldest men in the family are congratulated and honored. According to popular beliefs, the guarantee of happiness is living under one roof for three generations. The attention and care that children give to the elderly has a great effect on their he alth.

   

3. Australia. The purpose of Father's Day here is (as in the US) to emphasize the father's role in parenting. In this country, it is celebrated on the 1st Sunday in September. as giftspresented with chocolate, flowers and ties. They start the holiday with a family breakfast, and end with a hike, active games or walks.
4. Finland. The holiday date is November 5th. On this day, all houses are decorated with national flags. Mandatory on the festive table is a homemade pie. It is also customary on Father's Day to commemorate dead men and light candles on their graves.
5. Estonia. Celebrate, as in Finland, but on the 2nd Sunday in November.
6. Germany. May 21 is not only Father's Day, but also Ascension Day. Family picnics are a tradition.
