The dog, which is now called the Husky, was bred by the Chukchi. They needed a breed that could carry a light load at a decent speed and over long distances and would easily endure severe frosts. On a day, a team of 20 dogs could cover 100 km so that its owner could catch fish and bring her home.

It is believed that the breed has been worked on for three millennia. Good sled dogs were the we alth of the Chukchi family. The upbringing and selection of puppies was done by women. The puppies grew up with the children of the Chukchi, hence the character of the husky, brought up for centuries, friendly to people. And men taught grown-up puppies to team.

Of course, this is a riding husky, with all the ensuing consequences. She is strong, muscular, looks very harmonious, with thick hair, but not shaggy. In winter, a soft, dense undercoat grows. Color can be anything from white to black. But where these dogs are used as sled dogs, dogs with a gray coat color are preferred - it is believed that such animals have better he alth, and, accordingly, they are more enduring in riding. In general, something wolfish is felt in the breed: the tail is always lowered; the dog prefers to howl, but not to bark; it is characterized by a certain autonomy and independence in actions.

Behavior at home

Independent Huskies are affectionate, calm and devoted, loving the family they live in. But only one member of this family is chosen for themselves. They get on well with children. They have a very plastic behavior, allowing them to easily get used to new conditions.

They can live in an apartment if the owner walks with them a lot. For living in an apartment, they have a big plus - their hair does not smell like a dog, they are not drooling and do not create a mess in the house, they are very clean.

Huskeys are very calm with other breeds of dogs. But there may be problems when living under the same roof with animals of a different species, such as cats. The Siberian Husky has retained a very strong instinct to chase and kill. They can easily pick up a cat that lives with them in the same apartment.

The Siberian Husky, wherever he grows up, retains the innate skills of a sled dog. They have to work hard. These are not guards and not service dogs, they hunt, but they will not bring game to the owner. They don't like to bark. Also, like all likes, they tend to run away wherever they want, so they need to be constantly monitored. If not for these features of the Husky breed, their character for life in a city apartment would be just perfect.

By nature, these are very smart and quick-witted, agile dogs. They learn commands easily. However, their independent and self-sufficient disposition confuses their owners. The conditions in which this breed was bred made them smart, capable of working in a team, but at the same time they can make an independent decision and act according to it. Often they tempt the owner with their stubbornness, but they do so out of a desire to know what they can do and to what extent. Therefore, in the relationship of this couple, a person should always be the master of the situation, the leader. But, in spite of everything, the Siberian Husky breed, whose character is very friendly and docile, absolutely devoid of aggression towards other dogs and people, is now very popular everywhere. These dogs are very smart and energetic. In relation to strangers, they do not show fear. To live in an apartment, they need some training.
