The Safe Wheel Competition is an annual challenge festival for young traffic inspectors. Volunteer groups of schoolchildren who stand up for safe behavior on the roads participate in it. The children demonstrate the rules to preschoolers and elementary school students. The competition instills respect for traffic rules, promotes discipline and unites participants. The team spirit and the ability to work in a team develops.

Competition process

According to the program of the "Safe Wheel" competition, students are first selected at the local level (local competitions), after - at the regional level. The winners go to the final, which is held throughout Russia. The team that wins receives the "Safe Wheel" cup, which passes every year to a new owner.

During the test, the guys put on a special uniform, and they show their skills of safe driving on the roads in natural conditions with the help of the necessary props. Tests require quick reaction and ingenuity.

The competition is sponsored by various production associations, providing the necessary equipment for testing.

Contest Policy

The purpose of the event is to develop law-abiding behavior in the new generation when participating in traffic. Prevention of homelessness and the formation of a he althy lifestyle culture is the main competitive motto. "Safe Wheel" solves the following tasks:

• Reduce road traffic injuries for children.
• Improving the control system for child homelessness.
• Prevention of breaking the rules among children.
• Reinforcing knowledge of the rules of the road.
• Involving new members in the road safety movement.
• Creation and replenishment of detachments of young traffic inspectors.
• Attracting new members to physical education and sports.

During the competition, theoretical knowledge of traffic rules is tested, first aid is tested, as well as cycling competitions and tests in a special area of the motor city.

Team composition and other rules

To participate in the finals of the "Safe Wheel" competition, a team is accepted from 4 people (two boys and two girls each). Children must not be born before 2002.

Suggesting some "Safe Wheel" rules:

• Each participant must have a personal diary.
• players of any means of telephone and radio communications.
• Participants in the event of a fall can resort to help at the place where they were injured, etc.

Contest stages

The "Safe Wheel" competition includes 5 stages (station) for knowledge and practical application of the rules of the road and one creative competition, which evaluates originality and ability to perform on stage.

First stage

An exam to test theoretical skills for traffic connoisseurs. Here the guys show their knowledge of the signals of the traffic controller and road signs, all the rules of safe behavior on various sections of the road and demonstrate the ability to observe and assess the situation. All participants must have an idea of how a cyclist should be equipped.

Knowledge is revealed in one of the ways:

• Written ticket exam;
• computer testing.

At the competition, the guys are gathered in a closed room with a huge screen, in front of which there are about 16 tables - only one participant sits at each table. 4 unaccompanied teams arrive at this station. The children can be watched by their relatives only from special sites. If technically permitted, participants will complete their responses electronically.

Second stage

Test with elements of practice on knowledge of the basics of first aid. For this competition, special medical equipment is allocated, with the help of which children show their skills and respond toadditional questions.

Two teams are being tested simultaneously at the station. Accompanying people are also not allowed. All participants draw tickets. Everyone must complete everything necessary for their task within one minute. The competition is overseen by the chief judge, who allocates places among the participants and evaluates them, as well as an assistant who asks additional questions.

If the task is not completed, the team is awarded pen alty points. Discipline must also be strictly observed. Pen alty points affect the future of the team.

During the "Safe Wheel" competition, a diary is kept of each participant, in which their scores are noted. At the end of the game, the document is returned to the child.

At the competition, a video recording of the event is made. Judges review all materials before scoring.

Stage three

The "Safe Wheel" competition at this stage is held in the car city. The test takes place in an enclosed area that simulates road conditions. This is a test of speed and reaction. The guys must cross several checkpoints on bicycles in a certain time and at the same time adhere to all the rules, road signs, traffic controller gestures and markings.

The motor city should have the necessary road signs, traffic lights and markings, as well as different types of intersections.

The whole station is divided into three sectors: the motor city itself, the area for spectators and the place for the technical preparation of bicycles.

At this stagesimultaneous participation of 5 teams is allowed.

Stage Four

Checking the ability to drive a bike. A test site is provided. Each participant demonstrates more than 5 elements of figure driving. Trials are determined by drawing lots.

The station involves several sites with obstacles. Their number is determined by the judge. The zone is also divided into sectors. Video filming is allowed by spectators of the competition, who must be in a specially designated place. There is a training ground.

At this stage of the "Safe Wheel" competition, no more than 5 teams take part at the same time. Before the test, all participants are briefed. The guys ride in protective gear, each before the start of the test chooses his own bike. Only one person participates in one race.

At the end of the test, the judges fill out a special protocol for each child.

Stage Five

Theoretical test to test general knowledge of the basics of life safety. Here the children show their knowledge of road signs. They tell how a cyclist should behave in front of pedestrians and in other conditions.

The area of this station is divided into three categories. For each part, children are offered tablets measuring 1 m x 1 m with tasks. The first is with a task and a traffic layout, the second is about a safe way home, and the third is about knowledge of a theoretical cycling course. Each tablet offers several optionsquestions.

At the same time, no more than 3 teams without accompanying persons are eligible to participate in this test. The guys in the process of drawing draw the number of the tablet and sit down for the task. The time limit is up to 2 minutes. The results are recorded using photo and video equipment. After the teams change lots and perform other tasks.

When passing the test, the guys can consult with their team.

Creative contest

In the last test, the guys perform on stage. This is the creative stage of the "Safe Wheel" contest. In stage form, children show miniatures about the rules of the road. To do this, the optimal scenario of the "Safe Wheel" contest is selected. The guys are in full dress. The jury evaluates each team on a 10-point scale according to the following criteria:

• creativity assessment;
• correspondence of the performance to the theme of the competition;
• quality of submitted script;
• originality and completeness of the composition;
• intelligibility and completeness of the disclosure of the topic;
• interaction with the audience, etc.

Each member of the jury fills out a separate form with his personal score.

The results of the competition are posted in public places, where anyone can see the list of teams with points and winners.
