Technologies are rushing ahead, ahead of time. It would seem that until quite recently, cuckoo clocks were considered the pinnacle of engineering. Manufacturers of modern gadgets are not limited to smartphones and tablets. The so-called smart watches are very popular. The watch market is filled with the most interesting novelties designed to make the life of the user better. The "watch" direction of hi-tech flagships is rapidly developing. The leaders of the new market today are Apple, Foxconn and Allerta.

So what are smartwatches? Gadgets that can seriously ease the life of their owner? Serious competitors who can move such mastodons as Casio, Rado watches and Rolex in the market? Or is it just another fashionable toy for Western teenagers? Let's figure it out.

Apple

As usual, the upcoming offspring of Cupertino cannot do without a lot of rumors and "hype" around. So the topic of possible smart-watch from Apple is quite resonant. The Internet is already full ofimages of the upcoming iWatch model. And this despite the fact that no official data about the design from the Yabloko camp has yet been received. In March 2013, the company confirmed that more than a hundred full-time engineers were working on the development of the prototype. It is expected that the watch will be able to make and receive incoming calls, determine the location and measure the pulse. Rumor has it that smart watches from Apple should be released in 2014. However, the company did not announce the exact date.

BlackBerry

It is not clear why the Canadian company decided to outsource the development of its own smart watches. Apparently, considering that the engineers of the Allerta center have great potential in this area. The released product was called InPulse and after its presentation ingloriously sunk into oblivion, leaving behind nothing but a hole in the BlackBerry budget.

Allerta

However, the experience of working on InPulse helped Allerta launch one of the most successful startups on Kickstarter - Pebble smartwatches. They are also the cheapest at the same time - only $ 99 apiece. They are equipped with a 1.26-inch monochrome e-paper display, Bluetooth 2.1 interface, four buttons and an acceleration sensor. Pebble is a multifunctional headset for Android devices. Through the "blue tooth" they are able to receive calls, messages, load a graphical interface. It is clear that Pebble will reveal its full functionality along with applications coming out for them. Today there are four colors of watches available: black, red and white. Later, a fourth version will be released, which will bedetermined by a vote of people who supported the project on Kickstarter.

Foxconn

In the middle of summer 2013, a Taiwanese gadget manufacturer unveiled a prototype of its iPhone watch headset. With their help, you can answer calls, receive messages on Facebook, measure your pulse and much more. It is possible that in the near future watches from Foxconn will be able to recognize the owner by fingerprint. The company did not announce plans for mass production.

Despite the fact that the smart watch segment is just beginning to develop, the potential, as they say, is obvious. Who knows, maybe in the near future we will be able to leave our smartphone at home, controlling it only with a convenient bracelet.
