Choosing a cage for decorative rabbits is not so simple. Not every home will suit your pet.

The first thing you should pay attention to when buying a cage for decorative rabbits is the quality factor and quality. All materials must be strong enough. Please note that the animal will definitely try all the rods on the tooth, check the bottom for strength and, possibly, organize a toilet in a place where it is not provided. Therefore, the grate should be metal (in no case painted!), The bottom should be retractable, preferably plastic. This will make cleaning the cage easier. You should not buy completely plastic closed dwellings (like an aquarium). On the one hand, they are relatively safe, because it is extremely inconvenient for the animal to gnaw on the walls, on the other hand, there is no air circulation, which will negatively affect the condition of the rabbit. Heat and stuffiness are life threatening for these animals.

Cages for decorative rabbits (photo below) should be spacious enough, at least four times the size of an adult animal. When looking for housing for your pet, keep in mind that the placed trays, drinkers and feeders will take up additional space, reducingliving area. Remember that the animal must be free to move and be able to lie down in full stretch.

This is what the whole complex might look like:

Cage for a decorative rabbit (price in stores - from 35 USD) should include:

- drinker (best of all - automatic, for example, ball);

- feeder (stable, heavy, ideally ceramic);

- manger (especially for hay);

- house;

- tray.

Most automatic drinkers have built-in tubes with balls at the end, when touched, water begins to drip. Rabbits very quickly master the basics of such a watering place. The advantage of such drinkers is not only in savings, but also in maintaining cleanliness: animals often spill water poured into ordinary containers, but here the cage will always be dry.

Feeders can be of two types - floor and hanging. Both types are quite comfortable, small in size, wash well. However, it should be noted that rabbits are active rodents, so the materials from which the feeders are made must be natural. In addition, swallowed pieces of plastic can cause intestinal injury.

Ideal nurseries are made of metal (lattice or mesh) and are located outside the cage. For ornamental rabbitsit will be difficult to get food from such a design, and the space savings will be significant.

It is important to understand that it is impossible to do without a nursery, because hay placed just on the floor of the cage will quickly deteriorate, and the animal may be poisoned.

The house, in which rabbits are happy to retire, is made only of wood (conifers are not suitable). The finished product must not be painted.

Tray height - not less than 10 cm (ideally - 15 cm). Either shavings or sawdust are poured at the bottom. Do not use cat litter (other than wood) as rabbits tend to eat pellets.
