Have you ever wondered if cats dream or not? To check if your pet is sleeping or napping, call her loudly. If she stretches sweetly and opens her eyes, looks at you with a detached look, then turns on the other side and continues to lie peacefully, then she is in the power of Morpheus.

Approximately one hour after the start of a full sleep, the REM period begins. In this state, the nature of brain activity changes dramatically: body temperature rises, heartbeat quickens, blood pressure rises. It is during this period of time that animals, like people, see dreams. After numerous studies, neurophysiologists at the University of Lyon came to the unequivocal conclusion that cats only dream of the event that made them nervous or fully concentrated. And surprisingly, scientists have not found any evidence that cat's nightly "dreams" are romantic. If your pet, during a dream, anxiously moves its paws or suddenly, jumping up sharply, runs afternon-existent mouse, which means it suffered a severe brain injury during a fall or impact.

If you put your hand on your pet, you hear that he purred, it means that the kitten is not sleeping, but dozing, and that cats cannot dream at this time. When your pet's eyes are closed, the tips of the ears tremble a little, or they move and the tail twitches nervously, it means that the kitten is simply unhappy that you do not let him rest. Adult animals doze much more than they sleep. At this time, they relax and at the same time are sensitive to the external situation.

Romantic dreams

Commercials often show that cats dream about their favorite "Kitty-Kat". Such moments are very touching and positive. And I want to think that your pet only does what it eats and sleeps hearty, seeing in a dream how it absorbs its favorite treat with pleasure. Each cat has its own character, its own habits, and night visions are purely individual, and it is possible that scientists have not quite correctly interpreted the restless behavior of the animal during sleep. Or maybe the kitty was playfully running around on the lawn with the cat, perhaps finding out her feelings in a passionate “conversation with her beloved.”

French biologist solves the mystery of cats' dreams

In 1979, French biologist Michel Jouvet was able to unravel the riddle of dreams in animals. During sleep, the brain blocks the movement of muscles in its own special area. The scientist turned off this lock atexperimental cats, thus making them "lunatics". When the animals slept quietly, they remained motionless, but when the REM phase of sleep began, they quickly jumped up and began to hunt for a non-existent enemy, wildly rushing at him, biting, scratching fiercely. However, the pussies did not react to the real mouse in any way. Judging by this reaction, it can be assumed that cats have the same dream, full of anxiety and worries, joy and disappointment.

If your pet is full and he althy, it means that her rest will be calm and long. Yawning sweetly, putting one paw forward, placing the other back, she will lick her graceful little body several times, and will calmly rest. And we, in turn, looking at her with endless adoration, we will think: "Do cats dream, don't they?"
