Alpine Dachsbracke belongs to the group of hunting breeds, representatives of this family are distinguished by incredible endurance and energy. An excellent sense of smell makes this dog versatile: it can both drive the beast and follow its bloody trail equally well. The hunting specialization of Brakka is not only baiting foxes and hares, but also deer. Muscular, low (34-42 cm at the withers), stocky dog with thick, hard hair. The shade of color varies from dark red to black-brown. Some variants of coat color (rusty and brown) allow dogs to have white and black spots of various locations. In redheads, this is a white stripe on the back of the nose and neck, spots on the abdomen and paws, as well as a white collar on the chest. Spots and blazes of black color are acceptable for red and brown breeds (above eye level, along the edges of the ears, on the muzzle, along the back and on the tail). The reason for disqualification is that the dog has a black, chocolate and blue-gray color.
