Such a structure of internal organs is characteristic only of fish of this type, because thanks to it they have special qualities that are manifested in behavior and life.

Keeping them at home is very simple and affordable. Labyrinth aquarium fish are unpretentious, take root in any conditions and get used to any food. Thanks to the famous organ located above the gills, they seem to swallow the air that is above the surface of the water, and then distribute it through the vessels throughout the body. Therefore, the labyrinth family is absolutely indifferent to whether there is a lot of oxygen in the water or not, the main thing is that the aquarium is not too deep and tightly closed, and each fish always has access to the surface.

It is also worth noting that labyrinth fish can get used to water of varying hardness. Most importantly, duringtheir life activities do not change their usual conditions, since, depending on the type of water, from childhood, they will begin to develop certain physiological features.

Therefore, if the fish originally lived in an aquarium with hard water, then correcting this nuance by softening the water will not benefit them at all.

All labyrinth fish are divided into different subspecies or breeds. Each breed is characterized by both external features and behavioral ones, therefore, before buying fish, it is important to choose in advance the most suitable option for yourself. The most common species of this family are various bettas, as well as the gourami breed, lapius are a little less common. Few people know, but macropods and fighting breeds are also labyrinth fish. It is important to know that in an aquarium, for the full-fledged living of fish from the labyrinth family, there must certainly be a large number of plants. They can be very diverse, but the more there are, the better. In too small an aquarium, it is undesirable to start a large number of labyrinths, as they will always feel a lack of oxygen. It is also worth noting that the aquatic inhabitants of this breed reproduce very quickly and productively, bearingcaviar in the mouth. Therefore, labyrinth fish are usually single-sexed in order to save space in the aquarium.
