Now is the time for tolerance and compromise. Now people are trying not to fight, but to resolve all contentious issues through peaceful negotiations. As a result, ordinary people calmly go to work, live, fall in love, raise children. They worry about various little things, for example, how not to miss the bus, what job is better to get, what color to buy a new jacket. Parents teach children not to fight and not to conflict, to help others and not to be at enmity, they adopted this from their parents, who in turn taught them, and these foundations are unshakable. But not everywhere it is customary to resolve issues peacefully. Somewhere on the globe, the people of some country far from us are suffering from military operations and dream that everything was the same as before.
War is in the blood of man
It would seem that now the era of negotiations and peaceful solutions to conflicts has begun. However, very often you can see or read in the news about more and more new hostilities. The war in one country has not had time to subside, as another begins to fight. And then you look - and some other unfortunate country is suffering from fire from large and small guns. Why is this happening? All because of differences in opinions and views. And also doneit is because of such primitive things as greed, envy and the desire to get rich. Sometimes it even seems that war is in the blood of a person. And in order to remind the world that humanity has recently entered a civilized era, conflicts must be resolved peacefully, and man himself is a kind and peaceful being, the International Day of Peace was created.
Some numbers
Researchers in 2008 did a great job, counting how many "reasonable people" fought from the beginning of the existence of a cultural civilization. The numbers are horrifying. Starting counting from 3600 BC. and until the then 2008, mankind did not fight for only about 292 years, which is 5% of the total existence of a cultural society. It is not surprising why even now there are bloodsheds - this is in a person's blood. And that is why the UN began to sound the alarm and established the International Day of Peace. Indeed, all countries stubbornly talk about world peace.
International Day of Peace
This world holiday of peace was adopted in 1981 by the UN General Assembly by resolution 36/67 and was celebrated on the third Tuesday of September. It was dedicated to strengthening peaceful relations and love for each other both between peoples and countries, and within each individual state. A couple of decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly drafted resolution 55/282, which indicated that starting from 2002, the International Day of Peace would be celebrated on September 21 and would symbolize the "Day of Refusal ofviolence and cessation of hostilities".
Reaction of the masses
In adopting this resolution, the UN hoped for the support of the people. And they got it. Having learned what the International Day of Peace is, millions of those who are not indifferent rose up and began not only to talk about peace, but also to do something in order to achieve a future without wars and violence. On this day, September 21, many youth, public organizations and simply not indifferent people hold various events, demonstrations and actions that call to drop weapons, forget about hatred and remember love for one's neighbor. Also on this day, the opportunity to exchange experience with other peace-bearing organizations from different cities and even countries is not missed, as well as to draw the attention of individual groups of people and organizations to the problems of peaceful coexistence.
The UN members themselves also do not bypass the International Day of Peace. On September 21 of each year, the UN Secretary General delivers an address in New York near the Peace Bell, followed by a strike on this very bell, and then a minute of silence. Also, this holiday is annually thematic, for example, "Youth for Development and Peace", "The Right to Peace of Nations", etc.
Celebrate "peaceful" holiday
This holiday is celebrated all over the world, and our country is no exception. In many cities around the world and in our homeland, various youth organizations are constantly reminding about the world with their events. You can also not limit yourself only to those who are not indifferent, but celebrate itan event at the city or even state level.
The scenario for the International Day of Peace could be something like the following. A big concert in the square of the city (or other type of settlement) with several famous stars who call for "living together". In between speeches, it would be nice to show what kind of conflicts are taking place in the world and human losses not only among military personnel, but also among the civilian population. Nowhere and without a symbol of peace - white doves, which will be released by children at the end of the holiday. Also, these celebrations can be made themed. For example, "We Fight for Human Rights", "Friendship of Peoples", "Creating Peace in the World", etc. In general, the International Day of Peace should inspire people to coexist peacefully with each other and individual nations with other inhabitants of the cultural world.
