It is believed that the first Day of Beauty described took place during the so-called Judgment of Paris. It was Paris who was supposed to present the prize - an apple - to the most beautiful of the female goddesses. So, it can be said that the first Beauty Day brought so little good to humanity, with the exception of the general idea of holding a competition and a holiday among beautiful women and girls. And to this day, almost any of them dreams of such recognition and an imaginary apple - as a symbol of the most beautiful of all.

How beauty criteria have changed

Since then, Beauty Day and competitions associated with it have been and are being held in many countries around the world. These days were mainly timed to coincide with other, more comprehensive festivities (for example, Dionysius), and men, of course, as true and persistent connoisseurs of beauty, acted as the estimating human factor. But in different eras and in different states, the criteria for beauty itself differed quite significantly from each other.

The difference in grades

So, an ancient (not in the sense of her age) Greek woman, for example, had to appear in court tanned, light and mobile, her arsenal of seduction should have included the ability to dance to music and perform popular chants. In Rome, just as ancient, on the contrary, women's calmness and white skin, hidden from the sun's rays, were highly valued.

During the time of universal love for pompous (Rubensian) beauties, the appearance of applicants was judged by their rosy anddimensions. And during the Middle Ages, for example, pallor and emphasized modesty were held in high esteem.

So at many competitions, when celebrating Beauty Day, the jury takes into account not only the perfection of the body, but also the mind and soul. Why is this holiday traditionally celebrated in September? Back in the post-war years, in 1946, cosmetologists and beauty experts from different countries decided to unite in a worldwide organization that would solve problems and set tasks for the implementation of cosmetology developments. This is how the SIDESCO Committee appeared, which today includes more than 30 branches around the globe. And in 1995, the same organization decided to celebrate World Beauty Day on September 9 (in the Russian Federation, the corresponding conditions were created in 1999). Since those years, holding contests and celebrating days of beauty has become part of the everyday life of Russians, and the success of Russian beauties at the global level can hardly be overestimated. As for September 9, it is on this day (except for beauties) that a great many people celebrate their professional holidayservice industries working for the benefit of our appearance.
