Pets - cats and dogs - can live both at home and in the yard (or go out there for a walk), but in any case, they are constantly in danger of contracting dangerous diseases. On the street, an animal can pick up a virus from another animal or simply from the ground, and purely pets become infected through dirt brought by a person on shoes. Proper vaccination can help reduce the risk of infection. This is not to say that the risk of infection will be completely eliminated, because it is not, but the risks will still be minimal.
Today, the most popular drug for both dogs and cats is Nobivak, the vaccination scheme of which will be presented in this article. It will also describe the features of care after the procedure, possible contraindications and complications. How to prepare an animal for vaccination? Nobivacom vaccination schedules for dogs and cats differ from each otherfriend.
Medication description
The drug is a white powder packaged in vials, the vaccination kit also includes ampoules with a solvent. In some cases, "Nobivak", the vaccination scheme for which will be prescribed below, is provided in veterinary clinics for monovalent vaccination in the form of a separate ampoule with a solution ready for use.
A damaged bottle of powder or one that has expired must be thrown away. An open powder is used only for one hour, since after that the living organisms contained in the composition will die, and there will be no use for vaccination. If the vial with the drug is accidentally damaged or the expiration date has expired, then before throwing it away, it must be neutralized by boiling for 10 minutes.
Varieties of vaccine
The drug is manufactured by Intervet International. The company's office is located in the Netherlands (this state is listed in the "country of origin" column), but the company itself is Dutch.
Variety of remedy:
- "Nobivak KS" - a drug designed to vaccinate dogs against such dangerous viruses as parainfluenza and bordetellosis. Unlike many vaccinations, this one is not given either subcutaneously or into the muscle, but is given orally to the dog.
- Nobivac Puppy DP is a vaccine against parvovirus enteritis and canine distemper, designed specifically for vaccinating puppies for whom other drugs are contraindicated so far. Babies are vaccinated4-6 weeks old.
- Nobivac DHPPi is a vaccine for both puppies up to ten weeks of age and adults. The drug can be used in combination with other vaccines developed against leptospirosis and rabies. Nobivac DHPPi produces immunity in puppies for a year.
- "Nobivak R" is a monovalent drug, but can be used in combination with a polyvalent one.
- "Nobivak L" - a vaccine that protects the animal from leptospirosis.
- "Nobivak Triket Trio" is a special drug for vaccinating cats against calicivirus, viral rhinotracheitis and panleukopenia.
- "Nobivak DHP" - parvovirus infections, hepatitis and distemper.
- "Nobivak Rabies" - rabies.
Pharmacological properties
The composition of the drug contains strains of viruses in a small amount, which, penetrating into the animal's body, develop immunity. The Nobivacom vaccination scheme provides for two vaccinations with an interval from each other (we will consider further). The action of the drug begins only one and a half weeks after the introduction of the second vaccine, therefore, during this period of time, the dog is prohibited from walking, contact with unvaccinated animals, quarantine is indicated.
The manufacturer guarantees the complete safety of the vaccination for the animal, the drug does not cause allergic reactions.
There are no contraindications as such. The only thing that could be is intolerance to the components of the vaccine by the animals.
Vaccination with the drug"Nobivak" is also possible for females during pregnancy, there are no contraindications here.
Side effects
Puppies can develop hypersensitivity, and there are often bumps at the vaccination site that go away on their own within a couple of weeks. But some veterinarians additionally inject adrenaline into the animal - to relieve hypersensitivity.
If a person or an animal, when vaccinated, got the drug on the mucous membranes, then you need to rinse them well with water. Gloves are used during vaccination, but even in this case, you need to wash your hands well and with soap before and after.
"Nobivak": vaccination scheme for puppies
At two weeks old, a small dog is given Nobivak KS.
Puppies at 8 or 9 weeks of age should be vaccinated with Nobivak DHP, DHPPi and Lepto. Revaccination is given 3-4 weeks later at 12 weeks of age.
If the puppy is vaccinated earlier, at 4-6 weeks, then you need to vaccinate "Nobivak Pappy". In the future, after three weeks, you must definitely put "Nobivak" DHP or DHPPi. In the future, the comprehensive "Nobivak" vaccination should be given at the age of one year (and then every year).
Vaccinate puppies against rabies only at twelve weeks of age. Revaccination is carried out only after three years.
Vaccination scheme for "Nobivak" puppies can be changed by a veterinarian due to the general condition of the animal. The dog must be active at the time of vaccination.completely he althy.
As for the dosage of the drug, the instructions for use of the Nobivak vaccine say that one ampoule is intended for one use as a whole, regardless of the size, breed and age of the animal. That is, one ampoule - one animal.
Vaccinations for adult dogs
If the dog has never been vaccinated, then you need to discuss the need for this with a veterinarian who will competently draw up a vaccination schedule for an adult dog.
"Nobivak" is re-introduced a year after the first vaccinations. The rabies drug is expected to last for three years.
It is necessary for the dog to have a vaccination passport, in which marks will be made about the vaccination (what vaccination, date). With such a passport, you will definitely not forget about the approach of the next one. Without a vaccination passport, a dog will not be allowed on public transport (train, plane, intercity bus).
Preparation for vaccination
The Nobivacom vaccination schedule for dogs can be changed if the animal becomes ill when it reaches the age for vaccination. Also, the vaccine is not affixed until the dog is relieved of worms. The helminths simply will not let the drug work, and the money will be spent in vain, and the pet will be left without protection.
If you need to crop the ears, tails, then this is done at least three weeks before vaccination.
Vaccinations are also not given to dogs that have just been purchased from a breeder or shelter, or found on the street. ATfor several weeks, the animal must be observed, examined by a veterinarian in order to identify the presence of hidden diseases.
A couple of weeks before vaccination, it is necessary to deworm the animal. For 2-3 days, stop all training, active games, the dog should be rested. Watch the stool, and if there are violations, then the vaccination will need to be canceled - rescheduled for another date. Note behavior, appetite, everything should be in full order.
Before a dog is given a comprehensive Nobivak vaccination, the animal is examined by a veterinarian. He is weighed, mucous membranes are examined, body temperature is measured. Only with good results, the drug is administered.
Quarantine after vaccination
Within one and a half to two weeks after the second vaccination, the animal develops a strong immunity to dangerous diseases, and it is during this period of time that quarantine must be observed. Puppies are not walked, they are taught to go out of need on a diaper.
As for adult dogs, they also develop immunity during the same time, and quarantine is also needed. But you need to walk the dog! The only thing during quarantine should be:
- walking time to reduce;
- avoid hypothermia, overwork;
- cancel all workouts and increased loads;
- Do not allow the animal to come into contact with stray dogs and cats.
Bathing after vaccination is not recommended for the same two weeks. But if the situation is hopeless, then:
- wash your pet only with warm water;
- wipe well with a towel;
- close all windows and doors to dry the animal without drafts.
Complications
Even if the Nobivacom vaccination scheme for dogs is fully observed, some complications may appear - general and local. As for the latter, it is swelling at the injection site. Common symptoms include the following symptoms: refusal to eat, lethargy, fever.
Usually, these symptoms appear immediately after vaccination and disappear after a couple of days without a trace. If the condition is prolonged, then see the veterinarian.
There are more serious complications - intolerance to some components of the drug. This is manifested by shortness of breath, increased salivation, mucous membranes may acquire a bluish tint. If at least one of the symptoms manifests itself, be sure to see a doctor as soon as possible.
Next, a preparation for cats "Nobivak Triket Trio" will be presented.
Usage rules for cats
With cats, things are similar, but there are still differences. The vaccination scheme for kittens with Nobivacom is as follows:
- The first vaccination of a pet should be delivered no earlier than two months of age.
- Next, a month later, you need to re-vaccinate, because only after it a good, virus-resistant immunity is developed.
- Revaccination is mandatory and is carried out every year. It is advisable to vaccinate at the same time (+/- two weeks).
When revaccinating, you need to be vaccinated only once, for re-vaccination (asin the first vaccination) is not necessary, antibodies will already be produced by the body.
Subject to the vaccination schedule, "Nobivak" protects cats from such terrible diseases as rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia. From the first two diseases, immunity will be developed for a year, and from the last - for three.
Contraindications "Nobivak" for cats
The animal must be completely he althy. For chronic conditions, it is important to consult a veterinarian to assess the risks. If the cat just got a little sick, then the vaccination is postponed to another time.
In no case is "Nobivak" used for vaccination during pregnancy of a cat and during the period of feeding offspring. If the animal has been ill, but is still weakened, the vaccination should also be canceled and put down only at the time of complete recovery.
Special Instructions
This product contains living organisms and should be used within half an hour after opening the package.
If the integrity of the package is damaged, the drug is not used. In this case, as in case of delay, you need to boil the ampoules for 10-15 minutes, then dispose of them.
The vaccine is not used if it shows the presence of impurities, sediment. Such a drug must be disposed of in accordance with the rules, even if it has not expired.
The dosage is the same for any animal, regardless of breed, size or age. That is, the entire ampoule must be administered to both an adult pet andkitten.
Preparing the animal
Cats are a little easier than dogs, especially if the animal doesn't go out for walks. Before the first vaccination and two weeks after the second vaccination, kittens should not be in contact with other people's animals (if there is a dog or other cats at home, except for the mother, then they must also be removed), with human street shoes. Before taking a kitten in your arms, you need to wash them well with soap.
A week before vaccination, kittens are given an antihelminthic. You can use both tablets and droplets for application to the withers. Without antihelminthic measures, it makes no sense to vaccinate, they will be useless.
Only perfectly he althy kittens are vaccinated, with normal appetite and active behavior. After vaccination, the animal may feel unwell, but it will pass within two days. If the condition does not improve, contact your veterinarian.
After a year, the cat is again prepared for vaccination: antihelminthic drugs, monitoring the condition. An adult, like a kitten, may feel unwell after vaccination.
Vaccine storage conditions
From the date of release of "Nobivak", the vaccination scheme of which was discussed in the article, is stored for thirty months, but only if the rules are followed:
- temperature should not be lower than 2 degrees, but not higher than 8,
- the place should be dark, where the sun's rays do not penetrate.
Optimal storage - on the refrigerator door.
