The rat has an even coat color along its entire length, and the main "highlight" in its color is a bluish undercoat, which gives this unusual shade of rat coat. The paws of the animal also match the overall color of the undercoat. But the belly can be one of three colors: silver, white or gray.

Decorative blue rats do not differ from their counterparts in size - the average female rat weighs about300-400 grams, reaching 39-45 cm in size with the tail. The tail itself is 15-20 cm.

The blue rat reaches maturity at the age of 1.5 years, but is ready for breeding at 4 months.

Behavior, character and lifestyle

Decorative rats are very kind animals. They bond closely with their owner. If the animal is taken at an early age, then the rat can safely travel on the owner's shoulder even in open space.

Rats often spend most of their time outside the cage. However, you should be careful - rodents love to spoil various available things.

The nature of rats may vary, but in general they are very affectionate and loving animals. Sometimes it is difficult to keep track of them - one can envy their activity.

Also, rats are considered one of the most intelligent animals. That is why rats are chosen as experimental subjects in laboratories. The animal easily remembers its nickname and responds to it, and is also easy to train.

How to communicate with the animal?

The blue rat does not tolerate loneliness, therefore they often start a couple of animals at once. However, if there is no possibility or desire to have two or three pets, then one animal needs to be given a lot of attention and not kept in a cage for a long time, because curiosity is inherent in rats. The average rat needs at least one hour of communication per day.

Food

The diet of the animal must include foods such as, for example, boiled meat. This product must be well boiled and fat separated. The meat must be cut into small pieces.

You can also give porridge, but it is better to give preference to crumbly porridge. You can give semolina in small quantities, but be careful - a blue rat can easily choke on viscous porridge, and to help the animal, you need to know a special technique that is not so easy to learn. Therefore, be careful when feeding cereals.

It is also allowed to give raw meat, but infrequently and in small quantities. Also, it will not be superfluous to occasionally feed the rat with well-cooked kidneys, liver or heart. It is necessary to add boiled egg white to the diet 1-2 times a week.

Also don't forget the different plants. For example, in the summer, the animal can be given flowers and leaves of dandelion, plantain, chamomile, and branches of fruit trees (which will help the rat wear down its teeth). Also, for the same purpose, pine nuts and chicken bones are added to the diet.

Choice of store food

When choosing store food, you should pay attention to the fact that it contains:
