Russians celebrate many holidays, one of the most revered is Independence Day. This date is perceived not just as an additional day off, but as a day of pride in our country. Despite the fact that the holiday is young, it is one of the most solemn. Freedom, civil peace, law and justice are its postulates. The day unites all the inhabitants of the country and teaches to be responsible for the future of the Motherland.
History of occurrence
Even in the RSFSR, the Declaration of Sovereignty was adopted (1990-12-06). Later, the day was declared non-working and appropriate amendments were made to the Labor Code. The final name comes from the word "sovereignty", which means "independence". The Russian people at first treated this day with coolness, as they considered it guilty of the collapse of a huge republic. Then people learned that the declaration itself did not contain a clause that Russia was leaving the USSR.
Independence Day received state status thanks toto the first President Boris Yeltsin. This happened because it was on June 12 that he won the election by universal suffrage. It happened in 1991, and after 3 years the holiday became national. Vladimir Putin noted that this date is the beginning of a new era in our state, and suggested renaming it the Day of Russia, which was done in 2002.
Independence Day-2013
Politicians say that the solemn date helps to feel the responsibility for our country, as well as learn about its past. A grandiose concert is held on Red Square in honor of the event, and state prizes are awarded in the Kremlin at this time. Concerts are held in central squares in all cities of Russia. Large enterprises, concerns, factories organize festive celebrations, performances for working people.
On Independence Day, parties usually hold rallies. 2013 was no exception: concerts, awards and prizes, rallies - everything was organized at the highest level. The final chord of the events is a grandiose, bright, beautiful salute and the anthem of our Motherland.
Independence Day today
The attitude of Russians to the holiday is positive. Concerts, competitions, performances by comedians, exhibitions, sales are massively attended. In large cities, fireworks soar into the sky in the evening. The day brings up patriotism in citizens for their country, their city, their region.
People love to go out into nature for picnics: they fry shish kebab, relax by the ponds. Someconsider the date an extra day off, but most know that this is a tribute to history, the beginning of the formation of a democratic society.
Now they compose songs and poems for this holiday, they show pride, respect for the Motherland. Laudatory words tell us that Russia has experienced a lot in its history, but it has withstood and continues to develop. Russia's Independence Day (2013) showed that citizens know and honor national dates.
Our Motherland has a historical and cultural heritage. It has come a long way to a "strong state". Her independence is the result of courage, hard work and dedication of her ancestors. You need to know and remember this!
