World holiday "Architect's Day"

Actually, this holiday is not marked in red in our calendar, except that this calendar includes notes about all professional holidays and, in principle, is made in red. Joking aside, Architect's Day is the most professional holiday of highly specialized specialists, which is celebrated all over the world.

The history of the holiday "Architect's Day" originates from the day of the establishment of the International Union of Architects (UIA). The English name for this organization is the International Union of Architects (UIA), and it was founded as an international and non-governmental community immediately after the end of World War II. Today, it has 124 national architecture sections, including over a million professional architects worldwide.

So, the date of foundation of the UIA is September 1946, location is London, UK. It hosted an international meeting of architects, includingdelegates from the then friendly Soviet Union were present. The members unanimously supported the decision to create the "International Union", but the official registration of the organization took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1948.

The purpose of the association, and with it the "Architect's Day" holiday, was to create favorable conditions for the life of mankind, to increase the functionality of the artistic and technical qualities of structures, buildings, monuments, and to preserve cultural and historical heritage. Once every two years, the General Assembly is convened in Paris, and the President is also re-elected, who, by the way, was Georgy Orlov, a delegate from the USSR, in 1972.

But back to the holiday: Architect's Day appeared forty years later than the organization itself, in 1985. The date was also unanimously determined: the first Monday in July.

Already in 1986 in Barcelona, the International Union of Architects held its 20th anniversary general assembly, within which a resolution was adopted to celebrate such an event as the World Day of the Architect. Moreover, the transfer of the date took place on the first Monday of October - apparently, everyone was not satisfied with the time of holidays.

How is this event celebrated? The official part is the annual gatherings and conferences of specialists in their industry, at which the results of activities are reviewed, creative fruitful discussions are held and global projects are proposed for the next year. However, each timethe holiday is given a new theme: for example, in 2013, the rather lengthy phrase “City-shared space” became the motto. Summing up, I would like to note that the International Day of the Architect is an event not so imperceptible: the role of architects in the history of mankind, the development of progress and modern conveniences is underestimated. Both the cultural heritage and the security of the city and the country depend on professionalism and the ability to prove one's point of view, to put forward one's project. This is one of the most ancient arts, the limits of development of which are not yet seen.
