History of celebration
In the spiritual calendar, this period is 7 Maccabee sufferers, and the people simply call the celebration - Makovei or the 1st Savior. Traditions

The flowers and herbs consecrated on Makovey were preserved behind the icons as a healing potion, which was then used to treat sick pets. And before, the poppy, consecrated in temples, was used to protect homes, livestock, and yards from evil spirits.
In some villages, large crosses were placed, painted with paints and decorated with poppy heads, and on top they attached a pumpkin mask with a burning candle from the inside, which resembled a human skull. Throughout the whole night, the younger generation sang and danced, defending their own Makovey cross. So is it possible to work at Honey Spas or is it only allowed to celebrate?
Dried poppy is best placed on a windowsill. In the old days, they still believed that on Makovey, girls are forgiven all, without exception, unrepented sins, if they forgive themselves and pray for mercy.

In the morning in Makovei, mother let her daughter go to the temple,where, after the service, the clergyman consecrated bouquets tied with crimson ribbons from the herbs collected on the eve of the celebration.
