There is such a branch of the military as the RKhBZ. The abbreviation is deciphered as follows: radiation, chemical and biological protection. These troops perform a very important function not only during the war, but also in peacetime. If there were no RKhBZ, then people would not be able to solve various problems that are related to the environment, life and he alth of all living things on the territory of their native land.

How the RKhBZ troops appeared

Day of troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection is celebrated on November 13th. During the fighting in 1918, for the first time in the army, harmful chemicals were used to remove the enemy. In the same year, on November 13, this branch of the army was officially created. They exist to this day. The RCBZ troops of Russia are one of the most demanded units for protection both from the enemy and from the consequences during man-made disasters.

Until 1992, RKhBZ were called chemical troops. Despite the fact that the name has changed, the functions and tasks remain the same. All officers and soldiers are called chemical warriors. In the last century there was no question of biological and radiation protection of the populationas hot as it is now.

Chemist Warrior Appearance

Many have seen a paratrooper jumping with a parachute, a tanker next to ground military equipment, a sailor on a warship. But how to distinguish a chemical warrior among others? OZK is a combined arms protective kit. It is he who is the main symbol of the RHBZ. A domestic chemical warrior can be recognized immediately by the gas mask put on his head. OZK is a necessary attribute for a soldier to protect himself from chemical contamination, small doses of radiation.

The emblem of the RKhBZ troops, which is depicted as ahexagon, will also help to distinguish chemists. In chemistry, as is known from the organic section, there is a benzene ring. It is they who frame the symbolism. Inside the benzene ring are three circles at the bottom. There is a version that they mean biological hazard. Alpha, beta and gamma radiation is another decoding option. The waves coming out of them to the edges of the benzene ring are radiation contamination.

Functions and tasks

The RKhBZ troops are called upon to carry out operations in the rear. Chemists don't go to the front. Their task is to protect their compatriots from exposure to various toxic substances, to carry out disinfection in the affected area. Soldiers are also trained to properly strike the enemy with poisonchemicals.

Instruments and military equipment are used that are associated with the assessment of the state of the environment, the destruction of hazardous substances. In the training centers, conscripts and officers are trained in various speci alties in radiation, biological and chemical protection.

Perfectly describes the field of activity of the flag of the RKhBZ troops. What does he represent? If you look a little from afar, you can see not just a white background, but a cross with wide edges. In the center of the cloth is the already well-known symbol of the RKhBZ. From it, stripes diverge in four directions: inside they are black, and outside they are yellow. It looks like the flag of the Navy: the lines are crosswise, only in a different color. Another distinguishing feature from the same naval flag is the presence of arrows and a torch with smoke on the stripes.

Chernobyl heroes

Almost 30 years ago, on the night of April 25-26, a tragedy occurred. The explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (ChNPP) claimed thousands of lives not only of workers, but also of residents. The reason, the extent of the defeat, was hidden from people for a very long time. And the most annoying thing is that they did not mention the names of those dead heroes who managed to eliminate further contamination of the environment. What was so terrible there? All nuclear power plants in the world operate thanks to radioactive substances such as uranium, plutonium and many others. If a person without protective equipment comes into contact with radioactive substances, then he dies after some time. Radiation adversely affects all organs, affects the entire system of living cells.

In those terrible days, they developed a plan to eliminatehearth - an exploded reactor. Until that time, no one thought about what a radiation hazard is in general, and how to deal with it, they did not represent at all. There was no need for this.

Nuclear plants were built in the hope that all workers would follow clear and strict rules while working. As a matter of urgency, scientists developed methods of disinfection. It was necessary to urgently clear or fence the Pripyat River so that its waters would not spread everywhere. Rain and wind were also a big problem. Particles of radioactive substances were easily transferred outside the affected area. Not only the Chernobyl neighborhood and the surrounding regions got it. The areas of Ukraine and Belarus bordering on Chernobyl were affected.
