In the 80s of the last century, a new term appeared in the US legislative system - "delinquent behavior". This means a deviation from the behavioral norms accepted in society (from the Latin "delinquo" - "deviation"). However, such a parsimonious definition does not reflect all the nuances of this complex concept. In criminology, it is customary to interpret it more as a “tendency to delinquency” than an accomplished action.

What is most often meant by the term "delinquent behavior"? This is a designation of illegal acts of adolescents who do not yet fall into the category of criminal and criminal offenses. But this is no longer deviant behavior, often considered a minor deviation from the social and moral norms accepted in a particular society. However, the boundary between these two concepts is more than shaky, which often allows analysts to mistake one for the other.

What offenses can characterize the delinquent behavior of minors? Insidethe very concept of deviation from the norms can be divided into several layers, depending on the seriousness of the misconduct.

more tangible and dangerous offenses: extortion, petty theft, fights, running away from home, alcohol and drug use. All these acts committed by adults are criminal and entail criminal liability. The purpose of separating delinquent behavior from criminogenic behavior is solely to take care of minors, an attempt to protect them from the criminal world and not to record them ahead of time as real criminals. That is why the punishment for acts committed by teenagers - with the exception of serious ones - are qualified as administrative offenses.

What factors provoke young people to delinquent behavior? This is a fundamental question, the answer to which may lie in the psychological atmosphere in the family of a teenager. So, the inattention of parents to his problems and desires, or, on the contrary, excessive guardianship, cruelty and misunderstanding, or permissiveness and indulgence of all his desires, constant quarrels between father and mother and, of course, one of the parents' addiction to alcohol or drugs.

Thesecircumstances are superimposed on a difficult period of growing up, causing a kind of protest, which determines most of the manifestations of delinquency. By the way, many psychologists tend to consider the deviant behavior of adolescents as a normal phenomenon, a reaction to social changes in society.

What should be the prevention of delinquent behavior of adolescents, and is it possible at all? A very difficult question, the answer to which will be purely rhetorical: to pay more attention to the education of minors, to create a he althy psychological environment around them in every possible way. Yes, these are maxims, but there is no other way. Deviant behavior is most often the moment when a young creature searches for its "I". And there is only one way out: do not interfere, but try to help him find himself and his way.
