A kettle full of lime deposits is not only ugly, but also harmful. In addition, a kettle with a coating takes longer to boil, because the thermal conductivity of the heating element is disturbed, and therefore more electricity is wasted. Almost every housewife is faced in her life with such a problem as scale in the kettle, or rather, with its removal. However, also every woman has her own secrets of how to get rid of her. In addition, the question often arises why scale is formed when using filtered water. In order to understand this, you need to understand what this raid is.

It is well known that the scale in the kettle is the deposits of s alts, namely calcium and magnesium s alts of carbonic acid, sulfuric or metasilicic. All these compounds react with acids, forming soluble substances that pass into water. This is their property and is the basis of descaling. However, different compounds interact with acids in different ways: carbonates are removed most easily, silicates and sulfates are worse. In order to descale the kettle, it is not necessary toprofessional chemist and have at their disposal a whole arsenal of chemicals. Often it is enough to use those simple ingredients that are in any kitchen. The folk wisdom accumulated over the years and passed down from generation to generation knows how to remove scale from improvised means. In addition, there are plenty of industrial products for the same purpose, but many people do not want to use additional "chemistry", given that we already have to deal with a lot of unhe althy chemicals every day. Before descaling the kettle, pay attention to the material from which it is made. So, many electric kettles are made of plastic, and it is not always resistant to harsh chemicals, the same goes for the coil, which can start to rust.

But folk remedies for descaling have virtually no side effects. Let's list them:

• 

  The most ancient way to remove scale was mechanical: plaque was cleaned with sand or other abrasives. However, it is quite long and laborious, and therefore does not suit us.

• Soda at a concentration of 10 grams per liter, boiled for 10-15 minutes, also saves from scale, but only in the most mild cases.
• It effectively removes scale in the kettle by boiling a solution of vinegar: 10-20 ml per 1 liter of water. The disadvantage of this method is the pungent smell of vinegar, which can cause headaches and various allergic reactions.
• A more gentle version of the previous method is consideredlemon acid. It must be boiled in a kettle (1 sachet per 1 liter of water) for 5-10 minutes, depending on the degree of contamination.
• Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) can also be used to descale dishes. However, this tool is quite expensive.
• For lovers of natural remedies, you can offer boiling water with slices of crushed fresh lemon (the same citric acid works), apple (malic acid) or raw potatoes (citric and ascorbic acids). All of these products are also effective on light soiling.

• 

  Sufficiently strong, although not cheap, carbonated drinks are considered to be a remedy for scale. You can also use highly carbonated water, but cola, sprite and others are much more effective. They act due to the acids that make up their composition (citric, orthophosphoric and others), as well as due to carbon dioxide, which is also capable of destroying s alt deposits. When using descaling drinks, be careful: they contain various dyes that can permanently stain the plastic of the kettle. Drinks are most effective when first boiled in a kettle, then left to stand for a few hours, then drained and washed thoroughly.

Scaling in the kettle is formed even when using filtered water, since no filter will purify the water from s alts by 100%: this can only be achieved using reverse osmosis systems, however, according to some scientists, to eat such water undesirable. Therefore, funds fordescaling is a must-have for every housewife.
