Our world around us is developing and moving forward so rapidly that it seems that we do not keep up with it and live after it. So, relatively recently, a clear qualification of sexual orientation was defined: heterosexuals, homosexuals, bisexuals … However, more and more often we hear another new distinction - pansexual. Who is pansexual? What are the features and significant differences?
Who is a pansexual?
Pansexuality as a phenomenon and a definition that refers to people with a non-traditional sexual orientation is rather complicated.
Love is very difficult to express in words, sometimes it is even impossible to describe this state. However, society forces us to “chain” our feelings into frames and definitions. So, it was difficult at first to take for granted the appearance of gays, lesbians, bi. Yes, what to hide, many even now do not allow to expand the scope of their consciousness and accept the phenomena of non-traditional sexual orientation.
Pansexuals are not bisexual or gay. Adherents of this category of sexuality do not set boundaries between the sexes. They do not care what kind of innate gender a person has. In fact, pansexuals completely ignore gender differences. They strive to find a soul mate, close emotional contact, regardless of the type and gender of the partner.
Androgynous, intergender, bigender, transgender, male, female - these definitions do not apply to the interpretation of the definition of "pansexuality". For pansexuals, spiritual intimacy, mutual understanding, respect and platonic love are important. Often people, without realizing it, are representatives of this sexual orientation. After all, many people confuse pansexuality with bisexuality or even with physical perversions.
Pansexual: orientation features
We have already defined what a pansexual is. This is the person who can be sexually attracted to both men and women, and even those who have not decided on their gender.
Understanding this topic, many will think that the concept of "pansexual" hides depravity and complete physical emancipation. However, this is not quite true. After all, pansexuals are not looking for an additional opportunity to have even more sexual partners. The priority for them is the right to love of any person, without an “innate” frame: gender.
If we consider the inner feelings of pansexuals, they see a person directly in front of them as a unit of love. Representatives of thisorientations fall in love with the essence of man, with his soul. For them, feelings, emotional warmth and the sensations that they experience when they are close to a person are important. At the same time, they do not pay attention to the classification of the beloved (beloved). In order to understand the philosophy of the worldview of pansexuals, you need to think about their slogan: “Sex is not genitals.”
Varieties
There are two types of pansexuality. Let's analyze the first type - gender fluid pansexual.
To fully understand the meaning of this definition, one should understand the interpretation of the word "genderfluid". Translated from English, fluidity means “moving” identity (genderfluid) and sexual orientation (fluid sexuality). Literally - mobile sexual orientation can change after a certain period of time. Also, this concept should not be included in a specific classification. Genderfluid pansexuals may be aware internally that they combine both masculine and feminine traits. Moreover, under different circumstances, they feel the predominance and inclination to a certain gender to a greater or lesser extent.
Pansexual-omnicsexual is synonymous with "pansexual". This is the sexual attraction, which is fundamentally different from bisexuality. Aesthetic perception, platonic love, romance and sexual attraction without the classic gender dichotomy (male/female) are fundamental signs of pansexuality (omnisexuality).
Pansexual… sounds complicated?
The term "pansexuality"used by the well-known Austrian psychoanalyst, psychiatrist and neurologist Sigmund Freud. He put the meaning of the sexual behavior that was hidden behind the human reaction. The word appeared much earlier than could be accurately determined: the world is not divided into two poles - men and women.
Gender identity implies a conscious choice of a person. And the term "pansexuality" is quite new, if not to say: the "trend" of our time. Now this concept is often found in the media. Journalists inform us literally every day about how modern society is "fun": from unprecedented to complete emancipation.
"Fashionable" word hides quite a lot of other vector trends. Therefore, do not try to fully understand the meaning of this new trend in an evening.
Pansexuality as a phenomenon in theory
At the moment, there are many theories about the ratio of hormonal, genetic and social factors that can determine a person's sexual orientation. Until now, experts from all over the world have not come to a consensus.
Pansexuality - an innate quality or freedom of conscious choice? It is definitely difficult to answer. One thing is clear: the choice is driven by a desire not to accept global gender standards and labels. One sexologist figuratively said: “Bisexuality is a double bed, and pansexuality is an erotic testing ground.”

This is the day of those who are gender uncomfortable in society, as well as those who have become a pioneer in the fight for gender equality and against discrimination.
Who is a pansexual? You can argue about this for a long time. However, one thing is clear: if the phenomenon of “pansexuality” already exists in our modern world, then it has the right to exist. And we need to be tolerant and not condemn the choice of another person. Where will pansexuality lead? What values will be violated? Perhaps already violated? What awaits us in the future?
