Work on the breed began in 1997. The ultimate goal is to obtain a new variety of decorative dogs, namely the Russian selection. Three years of hard work, strict selection of initial pairs and offspring gave its results. For the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg, a new breed of dog was bred - the St. Petersburg orchid.

Description of the breed

The breed standard provides for a maximum weight of 4 kg, there is no lower limit. The height at the withers is from 17 to 30 cm. The body is somewhat stretched in format. Petersburg Orchid is a strong dog with a well-developed voluminous chest.

Long, dry, set high neck with a slight curve. The head is graceful, of medium size, held high. The forehead-muzzle transition is clearly visible. The nose is the same color tone or black, small. Scissor bite. The eyes are oval, medium-sized, dark.

Color can be anything except white. A white spot on the chest is allowed, but nothing more. The coat itself is straight, fluffy, long, moderately thick with an undercoat.
