Children's camp "Karavella" is thirty hectares of pines, arborvitae, a luxurious sandy beach and a fun vacation for every taste. Opened in 1946, Caravel is still a favorite vacation spot for children aged 7 to 15.

A few words from history

Almost 70 years ago, the administration of the plant. Kulakova decided to open the Karavella camp for the children of her employees. The first tent camp on the Karelian Isthmus accepted only 65 pioneers. The children liked the beautiful place so much that the very next year it became clear that there were sorely lacking places in the camp. And Caravel began to grow. New buildings were raised, a club appeared. They began to bring not only factory ones to rest. The children's he alth camp "Karavella" began to accept subordinate kindergarteners. Only one thing was unchanged: the best employees of the military plant named after V. I. Kulakova.

In perestroika, the construction of the camp stopped. The plant, which did not receive a penny for its output, could no longer invest in the development of children's recreation. But the camp was saved. Moreover, he continued his work.

In 1996, whenthey wanted to seize the property of the camp for debts, it turned from a factory place for children's recreation into a non-profit organization DOSL Caravel. The camp is preparing for its 70th anniversary and is still the favorite vacation spot for children of all ages.

Caravel today

Today the camp works in four shifts. Each has its own name: "Star Pilgrims", "School of Magic and Wizardry", "Third Economic", etc.

Children's camp "Karavel" has become a base platform for students of the Herzen Pedagogical Institute. There, the best students are specially selected and trained to work in the camp. There is no doubt about their professionalism, enthusiasm, creativity.

The main task of the camp is functional children's recreation. There are no circles here, there are directions.

• In the fitness center you can do sports, oriental and modern dances, several types of aerobics, Pilates, yoga or just play outdoor games.
• The sports direction is represented by the Marine Watch club, the cycling section. Here teenagers are waiting for team and "quiet" games.
• In the workshops everyone will learn how to sew soft toys, create costumes, sculpt.

And there is also a performing arts school, a vocal studio.

There are also thematic squads. They teach journalism and economics. Hiking, excursions, swimming, competitions are also held here…

Housing and living conditions

What is Caravel today? The camp fully meets all the requirements for institutions of this type. There are stone and wooden buildings, a capital canteen, a huge club, a modern first-aid post. For children, parents can choose:

• For younger children: wooden dachas 3, 4, 5. Toilets and showers are located in buildings, rooms are designed for 2-4 people. If we talk about the building "Sadko", standing among coniferous trees, the amenities are right behind it.
• For older children: dachas 9, 10 with rooms for 4-6 people or buildings "Marat", "Ship" with amenities on the street.
• For middle age: stone buildings 37, 38 with amenities on the floors.

Cabinets are warm and dry even in inclement weather. Linen is constantly changed, and counselors and educators help keep order.

Food is not only satisfying and tasty, but also very he althy. Camp "Karavella" constantly wins prizes in competitions for the quality of food. Sanepidnadzor also recognized more than once that here is the best he alth food.

How to buy a ticket

You can fill out the application form for purchasing a ticket to the Caravel camp on the website. After confirmation, the administration sends an invoice that can be paid at Sovetsky Bank (no commission) or using Internet banking. After that, the buyer receives a Certificate, with which he must come to the office at the appointed time to conclude the contract. Then you will have to collect the necessary documents and come back to the office for a ticket.

Important to consider: for children,living in St. Petersburg, the regional government has provided a special subsidy, which allows you to reduce the cost of a tour by about 6-8 thousand rubles.

An organized group of children can be taken to the camp. In this case, the price is negotiable.
