The Black Spitz is a cheeky extrovert, nice and loyal dog. These little ones are smart, easy to train and love to please their owners.
History of the breed
Today it is hard to imagine that this charming creature with a cute face, which is a black spitz, came from hardy and large northern dogs. But, most researchers of this breed believe that this is exactly the case - the ancestors of the Pomeranian really lived in the territory of the northern countries. For example, in Switzerland, they lived in the Neolithic era.
Some scientists believe that the historical homeland of Spitz can be such states as ancient China, and possibly Egypt. They cite as evidence of their version of the image of dogs similar to Spitz, which were found on household items and culture of the peoples of these countries. However, supporters of the version about the northern origin of the breed have a little more reliable arguments.
The Germans showed the greatest interest in the Spitz in the Middle Ages. In the 15th century, they already bred Spitz, who were initially given the name Spitzkhund. Their appearance was very reminiscent of modern representatives of the breed.
Work on the breed in Germany
It took place in differentcenters of medieval Germany and led to the fact that in the XVIII century a breed was actually formed, which quickly gained popularity. Some experts are sure that the cynologists of the German city of Württemberg played the most important role in the development of the Pomeranian breed, while others unconditionally hand over the palm of Pomerania. In this city, not even the Germans, but the Finns were engaged in breeding such dogs. However, German dog breeders are traditionally considered the creators of the Pomeranian breed.
Later, the breed was divided into two varieties: Pomeranian and German, which are somewhat different in appearance. Unlike the "fox" Pomeranian, the German Spitz is a "bear cub" with a round muzzle.
Black Pomeranian: breed description
These kids belong to the dwarf species of Spitz. In the Russian Federation, a standard has been approved, which was adopted by the international federation FCI. America has its own standard, according to which the height of the Spitz at the withers is 26 cm. The FCI standard allows these dogs to grow no more than 22 cm.
The case has a square format - the height is related to the length as 1:1. The constitution is strong and dry, decorative elegance is combined with well-developed muscles.
The head is small, the muzzle is short, tapering, a bit like a fox. The muzzle corresponds to the skull as 2:4.
Black Spitz has a black nose. The lips are also painted, tight to the jaws.
Eyes oblong, obliquedelivered. The expression in the eyes is lively, giving these adorable babies a perky look.
The ears are triangular in shape, erect, with a sharp top, located quite close to each other.
The neck is strong, of medium length, covered with a thick mane-like collar.
The back is strong, short and straight. It ends with a fluffy tail, which covers part of the back. The tail is of medium length, covered with thick hair, set quite high and turned up and forward at the base - it seems to lie on its back, like a lush fan.
Forelimbs are straight. The shoulder blades are long, directed backwards. The shoulders are muscular and close to the chest. The forearms are straight and stocky, pubescent on the back side.
Paws well-knit, small, round. Paw pads are black. The only exceptions are animals with a brown color - they have brown.
The hind limbs are more massive, the lower legs and thighs are approximately the same in length. They are parallel and straight. Hairy up to the hock.
Wool
German Spitz (black), like the Pomeranian, has a luxurious fur coat. Its coat consists of two types of hair: a long outer coat and a thick, cotton-like undercoat. On the head and ears, as well as on the front legs, the hair is short. There is a fluffy and fluffy collar on the shoulders and neck. On the hind limbs - voluminous pants.
Colors
Despite the fact that the topic of our article is the Black Pomeranian, we will briefly dwell on what otherthese animals have colors.
White color means that the coat of the animal is completely white, without any shades of other colors. All deviations are recognized as marriage.
Black Spitz must have a lacquered black coat, with no other color markings. Any inclusions are a disqualifying factor for experts. Black Spitz puppies may have a brownish undercoat at birth. If there were ancestors of a different color in the genus of a black dog, then it is likely that a puppy born black will change color after molting.
Brown Spitz should have a uniform dark brown coat. The darker it is, the better.
Black and tan Spitz has distinct markings. They can be of different colors. For example, red marks on the front of the chest, throat, and paws allow you to say that you have a black and red Spitz in front of you. The saturation of the markings can vary from cream to reddish-brown. Black and tan Spitz may also have fawn markings.
Character
The Black German Spitz is a charming animal with a friendly disposition. This dog only seems gentle and defenseless, in his soul he is brave and longs for exploits and adventures. Therefore, it should not be considered a sofa dog. Black Spitz will not lie on the couch all day long. He needs walks with his beloved owner.
However, at home, the dwarf black spitz is playful and active. This kid gets special pleasure when he hears the command of the owner “fetch”. At the same secondhe will rush for a stick or a toy.
The black dwarf spitz is not so kind as it seems at first glance - he is distrustful of strangers and is unlikely to allow them to stroke his beautiful fur. It's certainly not a working dog, but sometimes it acts like it doesn't understand that its size doesn't allow it to attack.
Why does Spitz bark a lot?
Often, owners talk about the propensity of these animals to bark. You should know that your pet's barking is not without reason, it makes sense, like the cry of a small child, and the owner's task is to understand what the pet is "talking" about.
Which spitz needs a master?
Most dog breeders are sure that the black spitz is the perfect companion for any person. This is not true. Spitz needs a lot of exercise. These are long (at least 1.5 hours) walks, as well as active games. If long walks are not possible for you, get ready for the fact that the baby will be active at home. He is always ready to run, frolic and jump. Therefore, the Spitz is unlikely to be a good companion for an elderly and not very he althy person.
Negative traits
Black Spitz has some not so good character traits. These include stubbornness and self-will. Therefore, despite the high level of intelligence, they are not always easy to learn. They are especially negative about static commands that are associated with a state of rest: “Lie down! Sit!”
In addition, they tend to dominate other animals. Do not be surprised if your Spitz baby decides to subdue a hugesheepdog. Probably the long attention to this breed of roy alty has played a role.
Spitz prefer to always be in the spotlight. To avoid this, early socialization is necessary. If at the time the puppy appears in the house there are already other pets living there, then there will be no problems. But if you decide to get another pet and bring him to a grown Spitz, then most likely your little one will show character and will in every possible way violate the legal rights of the new tenant. The same can be said about the attitude towards children: Pomeranians love them, they are ready to play with them day and night, but only when they are familiar with them from puppyhood.
But don't be put off by these behavioral complexities. They are fully compensated by the ability of this fluffy baby to give joy and love to the owner. These little fidgets are very attached to a person and strive to always be close to him. They are very sad when they are left alone at home. But when the owner returns, the Spitz compensate for their loneliness with increased attention.
He will follow you, sit at your feet when you cook, watch TV very carefully, sitting comfortably in your arms, and even sleep by the owner's bed. Anyone who wants to have such a little one needs to know that this is a true friend who will always strive to take part in all your affairs.
Where to buy a puppy?
It should be understood that no self-respecting breeder would sell puppies at a bird market or a bus stop. Puppies that are sold this way can be repurchased without paperwork, and the puppy cards will most likely not be authentic. At the same time, no one will give you any guarantees that the puppies were examined by a veterinarian, treated with helminth preparations and received the vaccinations necessary for their age. There is also no guarantee that the puppy belongs to this breed, and not just very similar to a Spitz.
Therefore, if you want to have a thoroughbred dwarf spitz (black) - contact the club, a specialized nursery or a well-known breeder. In this case, you will get a he althy animal.
Black Spitz: price
The cost of these dogs depends on many factors. Puppies from elite parents, especially from champion males brought from Germany, cost from 60 to 150 thousand rubles. Babies with a more modest pedigree will cost you around 50 thousand rubles. Bitches are usually slightly more expensive than males. Without documents, a puppy costs about 15 thousand rubles.
