Basically, a rust converter is used in order toto protect structures made of carbon or low alloy steels from corrosion. In this case, the layer of iron oxide should not be more than 100 microns. Rust converter is often made from phosphoric acid, as well as hydroxycarboxylic acid, tannin, and even cement. It is available as an emulsion, solution or suspension.

Different types of this remedy work differently. Conventionally, they are divided into several main groups: a rust converter into a primer for paint and varnish coatings; corrosion product stabilizers, which convert metal oxide hydrates into more stable chemical compounds; converters of corrosion products, converting rust into sparingly soluble s alts; special penetrating compounds that tend to seal corrosion products.

In choosing the method of applying the agent to the steel surface, the main role is played by the viscosity of a particular agent. Depending on its consistency, the rust converter is applied by streaming, dipping, brushing or spraying. Before you cover the surface of the metal with the appropriate composition, you need to prepare it. It is necessary to clean off formation corrosion products and loose layers of rust.

Transducers are contraindicated for use in cases where oxidation was caused by an atmosphere containing an increased amount of ammonia, hydrogen sulfide or sour gas.

If rust has covered any parts of your car, you should use special types of rust converter into the primer. They areeliminate the old layer of corrosion and prevent the formation of a new layer. The agent may change the color of the surface depending on the type of corrosion. First, prepare the part - remove dirt and lubricants, if any are present on it. Remove corrosion products with a metal brush. Then wash off the remaining dirt from its surface. Shake the rust converter before using. The composition is applied to the prepared surface.
