Muslin is the name of a light cotton fabric, rarely silk or wool, common in the Middle East. The name of the material was in honor of the city of Mosul, located in Iraq. This material is made by bleaching and soft processing of calico, high-twist silk and tightly twisted woolen threads. It is mainly used to produce thin dresses, shorts, shirts and T-shirts. Muslin (fabric) is most common in countries with a hot climate. It has high breathability and prevents direct sunlight from reaching human skin. There are three variations of this fabric.

Silk material

This type is made from a natural single-strand fiber with increased twist. Silk muslin - the fabric is very beautiful and pleasant to the touch. Expensive and beautiful evening dresses, shirts, blouses, curtains and much more are made from it. But this material has one drawback - with its frequent use, an unaesthetic expansion of the threads appears inseams.

Cleaning of such a fabric should be done manually or in automatic washing machines at a water temperature of no higher than 30 degrees, always using special detergents for silk. Wool material

Unlike the previous one, this fiber has a loose structure. Because wool muslin is a fabric made from densely twisted fleecy threads. This material is the rarest of the three types. Wash things from this type of muslin by hand, in cold water, using special softening detergents. If these conditions are met, then the clothes will retain their color and not change their natural shape. It is necessary to dry things from this type of muslin in a horizontal position in order to avoid their deformation. Cotton material

This is a lightweight cotton fabric that is made from muslin by processing and bleaching. This type of material isthe most common of the three described above. It has the best properties and has a soft white tint, and is also easy to paint. Cotton muslin is a very durable fabric. Bed linen and clothes are made from it. In countries such as Iraq and India, special uniforms are made from this material for workers in large enterprises. Clothing made from this fabric is comfortable, beautiful and durable.

Cotton Muslin Care

In order for clothes made of such material to serve you for a long time, you need to properly care for it. It is necessary to wash white and colored items separately, at a water temperature not exceeding 40 degrees, since the dyed fabric tends to shed. In this case, it is recommended to use mild detergents and powders specially designed for such materials. Cotton muslin should be dried flat, away from heat and light. Otherwise, deformation and discoloration of the fabric may occur. Steam ironing is best.
