And finally, when the repair has already come to an end, it remains to think about how to give your home coziness and comfort. So why not start with something quite significant for the arrangement of the room? Namely, with curtain rods, which, although almost invisible, are the basis for decorating windows, and then the whole room.

All cornices are divided into several groups according to special features: fasteners, fittings used and, of course, the "skeleton", that is, the design of the cornice. Wall cornices

A view that implies fairly high ceilings, and therefore a large distance between the top of the window opening and the ceiling line. Do not be surprised that this type of eaves is the most common. It is universally suitable for any of the rooms, and will also become an indispensable assistant if the house has stretch ceilings. In this case, wall cornices will be mounted much easier than ceiling cornices, and installation time will be noticeably reduced.

Ceiling moldings

A type of cornice that is gaining popularity and is taking its place more and more steadily in the homes of many people. Based on the name, you can guess that this type of cornice is attached directly to the ceiling, which means that the ceiling in the house does not have a very prominent height, or the window opening is designed in such a wayso that its upper frame reaches exactly to the ceiling. A significant advantage of ceiling cornices is that they incredibly manage to visually enlarge the space of the room.

Not much different from wall cornices, there is a ceiling cornice for curtains. The types of such cornices absolutely correspond to the types of wall cornices, differing only in the place of attachment. However, if everything is immediately clear with wall cornices, then how are things with ceilings, especially with stretch ceilings? It is customary to divide the types of cornices for curtains in rooms with stretch ceilings into visible and invisible cornices.

For the visible ones, the installation between the ceiling and the curtain itself of a small wooden beam is typical, where the cornice is then attached. The disadvantage of such cornices is clear from their name - the design cannot be completely hidden without violating the overall gamut of the room, therefore it will have to be masked with a baguette panel.

Invisible eaves in this sense bypass rivals. Having installed such cornices in the room, one might involuntarily think that the curtains descend directly from the ceiling. This window design looks concise and tasteful. However, unlike visible cornices, this type involves complex installation. Despite such a small list, the designers managed to create several more “derivatives” of these types, plus even combined ones, which combine some elements of several types at once. Thus, it turns out that the types of cornices for curtains are actually not so few, which means that it will be possible to make a choice in favor of the model you like the most.

Round cornices

The most common and suitable option for any room and any environment. Why are these types of curtain rods most often used? Because they are surprisingly easy to install, require little maintenance, look sleek and are quite reliable.

The structure of this type of cornice is also not difficult to imagine: three or more often two pipes of different diameters are combined into one structure that holds curtains and tulle. If we consider the classic version of a two-pipe round cornice, then this pipe is thicker with a diameter of up to 7 cm and a thinner pipe with a diameter of 5-10 mm. The first holds the curtains directly, the second is for tulle. Anything can serve as a material for the manufacture of round cornices: from wood to metal - this is just another sign of the versatility of this type.

String cornices

Such cornices differ from round ones in lightness of construction, namely, instead of several tubes, almostinconspicuous steel cable. Such an external structure allows you not to clutter up the ceiling or walls and looks very neat and rather unusual. Best of all, such cornices will look in a room where styles such as modern are used, since they look more modern than round cornices, and therefore they will not always fit the simple interior of the room. The only significant drawback of this type of cornice is that they are not designed for heavy curtains, because they are too fragile. So, if thin and airy curtains or tulle are enough to decorate the room, the option with string cornices is ideal.

Profile cornices

The most convenient option for cornices for those whose windows are located in such a way that they form an angle. Other types of cornices for curtains in this case will not look as elegant as profile (corner cornices). The peculiarity of the structure lies in the flexible material from which, like the round cornices, the tube is made - it is aluminum. You can also remember from the school course that this metal is very plastic, and therefore it will not be difficult to give it any desired shape. Very often, profile cornices are used to decorate arched windows or to decorate bay windows.

Bay bay profile cornices

Speaking about the flexibility of the aluminum pipe, one cannot fail to point out that the design of bay windows and niches with such cornices is the most common. A bay window is a round ledge with windows in the wall of a room. All windowsare located at an angle to each other, so you can’t do with standard models of cornices here. In fact, not only profile ones are suitable for a bay window, but also string, round and other types of curtain rods.

Wall bay or ceiling cornices are used where the artistic ledge in the wall of the room has been beautifully played up. In most cases, the owners of the house prefer not to make two or more separate cornices for each window, but one continuous cornice for all windows at once. It is in such cases that profile cornices are ideal. Convenience lies in the same ease of giving the cornice any shape. That is, at whatever angle one window opening is relative to another, the cornice can take the form of this angle.

Frame moldings

From an aesthetic point of view, this type of cornice is the most beautiful, since the tube and the entire mounting structure as a whole are covered by a decorative strip on top. The versatility of such cornices is that the design of this plank can be chosen for every taste and color. Whether it is an ornament, an imitation of precious metals, or just a pattern chosen to match the color of the flooring, the cornice will still look advantageous in absolutely any room. Thus, a baguette cornice, harmoniously matched to the interior of the room, will become the highlight of the room design.

Rail cornices

Another great option for owners of windows with narrow window sills is rail, or, in other words, tire, cornices. Design,again covered from above with an elegant bar that hides the fastening system, it consists of an aluminum or plastic guide with a special groove. It is there that tiny hooks and rollers are inserted, which, like on rails, move along the structure.

Types of cornice fittings

The fittings in this case are those fasteners that are invisible at first glance, which connect the curtains to the cornice. And here is an extensive list. Accessories can be hooks and rollers, clips, loops, eyelets, etc.

Hooks and rollers are a common choice, allowing you to open and close your curtains in complete silence.

Clips attached to moving rings are just as convenient a choice as hooks.

Hinges - a type of fittings that stands out from the general row, because the hinges are attached not to the cornice, but to the curtain itself, that is, they are an inseparable part of it. The advantage of such fastening is complete noiselessness when moving curtains from place to place.

Grommets - as usual, metal or plastic rings, the diameter of which is necessarily greater than the diameter of the cornice guide structure. So the rings will slide easily and without resistance along the eaves. Types of curtain rods with eyelets are as widespread as curtain rods with hooks.
