Holiday is fun, joy, good mood. All people celebrate birthdays, New Year and Christmas. This is common and understandable. But there are amazing, unusual and funny holidays of the world that are inherent in the traditions of only one country. They are very fascinating, although not always clear to the Slavic soul.

The British love funny holidays

Catch the Cheese: An invigorating outdoor fun event takes place every last Monday in May in the town of Coopers Hill. Competitors are chasing a large head of cheese rolling down the slope of a high hill. The first person to catch the cheese wins the prize.

"Bird People": in the city of Bognor in early July, an amazing competition takes place. Participants in colorful feathered costumes and homemade wings jump from a tower into the sea. The "main bird" is the one who lasts the longest in the air.

"Swamp swimming": the British find it very amusing and spectacular. On the last Monday of August in Wales, everyone in fins and masks swims 55 meters in a swamp. And all withoutexceptions who decide to do this receive prizes.

"Merry Face" completes the UK's funny holidays. It is celebrated every third Saturday of September in the English town of Egremont. Participants of the competition grimacing, making faces in the hope of a prize. The people around are resting, having fun and taking pictures. All in bright clothes and in a great mood.

How Americans have fun

The US also likes funny holidays, although Americans understand fun in their own way.

"Mountain oysters" is what cowboys call bull eggs. In May, Texas holds a cooking championship. The winner is the one whose dish of fried bull eggs is more fragrant, appetizing and tastier. For some reason, Americans refer this competition to the category of "funny holidays".

"Naked ass" - so relieve stress in the state of California. Every second Saturday in July, a long line of volunteers line up along the railway, and they all take off their pants in front of passing trains. They probably think that passengers are very interested in looking at their naked bodies.

"Burning Man": At the end of August, a week before Labor Day, thousands of Americans and visitors to the country head to the Nevada desert to the city of sand. Everyone tries to show their creative potential to the fullest extent, which is expressed in unthinkable frilly clothes, wonderful accessories, brightly painted faces. The goal is to live in a makeshift place for a week. At the end of the festival, the city is destroyed and an effigy is burned pathetically to the drum roll.

"Skating incoffins" - such a sense of humor among the inhabitants of the city of Manitou, who are happy to move down the mountain in coffins on wheels.

"Pirate Day": On September 19, Americans gather in gay gangs, put on an eye patch and fervently sing robber songs. Such parties are really very positive. Today Pirate Day has already become an international holiday.

Fun on the battlefield

The funniest holidays in many nations are associated with gambling battles. Projectiles are vegetables, fruits, other products.

"Egg Throwing": the action takes place annually in the summer in the UK. Recently, not only the British, but also residents of other countries take part in the holiday. A variety of competitions are held: throwing eggs at a distance, accuracy, "Russian roulette", a relay race for the transfer of raw eggs. People laugh and get a lot of positive emotions.

"Battle of tomatoes": in the Spanish town of Bunyol on the last Wednesday of August, a real tomato battle takes place! The Spaniards frolic, throwing overripe tomatoes at each other. Everyone goes around dirty, but cheerful and happy with life.

"Orange Carnival" is held in Italy in the town of Ivrea at the end of February. This traditional holiday, which has its roots in the distant 1194, is very fond of the locals. A noisy merry festivity stretches for several days, is played out according to a certain scenario, the culmination of the action isjust a battle of oranges.

Fire Holiday

This holiday can hardly be called funny, but it cannot be ignored. "Las Fallas" from 14 to 19 March is held in Valencia, Spain. This is a crazy fiery carnival ("las fallas" means "fire") with processions of mummers, a sea of bright colors, an abundance of pyrotechnics and special effects. The central place on the holiday is occupied by the burning of pre-prepared dolls, one of which is "left alive." The lucky doll is chosen by voting and sent to her brothers in the local museum.
