One of the most important characteristics when choosing a vacuum cleaner is its power. After all, it is the power of the vacuum cleaner that determines how fast this unit will be in its duties. And, of course, when choosing a vacuum cleaner, this parameter should in no case be bypassed.

In general, the power of a vacuum cleaner is described by two terms that are absolutely not identical and describe completely different characteristics of it.

Power consumption of the vacuum cleaner.

This term shows how much electricity an electric cleaner consumes per unit of time. Of course, this figure is many times higher than the suction power, so it is always indicated by manufacturers. How to "read" it correctly? The fact is that with its help you can easily calculate how much it will cost you to clean the room. So, the higher the number, the “rounder” will be the amount of money that you will spend on cleaning all the time.

Suction power of the vacuum cleaner.

This indicator is even more important than the first one. Because it clearly communicates how much air will be drawn in. And the higher this indicator, the cleaner your apartment will be. Of course, it should be borne in mind that this figure will always be lower,than the power consumption.

As a rule, for household vacuum cleaners, the suction power does not exceed 480 watts, and the power consumption - 1800 watts (for example, Samsung vacuum cleaner).

You should always focus on your own needs.

For example, if the area of the room is not very large and does not differ in pollution, then a suction power of 250 or 330 watts will be enough. Vacuum cleaners with a power of up to 440 watts will have more efficient cleaning and should be chosen by asthmatics and allergy sufferers. In addition, such power can subsequently wear down any fabric floor covering.

Some manufacturers in the technical specifications may indicate two parameters of the suction power of the unit: average and maximum efficiency (for example, a Hoover vacuum cleaner).

Of course, during the purchase it is best to pay attention to the first digit, since it is unlikely that the constant cleaning of the apartment will take place at the full power of the vacuum cleaner: its disadvantage is that it cannot accompany the entire cleaning.

If the figure seems very large to you, unfortunately, you will not have any advantages for the simple reason that the maximum effective power is higher than the average by a third or even slightly less.

It's very convenient if the figure turns out to be a little more than what you need, especially since it is adjustable, depending on the circumstances. And the power of the vacuum cleaner is adjusted as follows:

- mechanically, when you adjust it with a wheel on the bodyor instrument handle;

- automatically, using the remote control on the handle.

Of course, the price of a vacuum cleaner with the second type of adjustment is many times higher than with the first, and this is, in principle, understandable.

Summarizing the above, we can conclude: the power of the vacuum cleaner in most cases plays a dominant role in choosing a household unit. After all, only based on the figure, you can accurately determine how this or that type of household appliance will cope with its immediate duties.
