Russia continues to set new standards in terms of functionality and comfort of military protection. Thus, the new model of the ballistic helmet of the first class of protection "Spartan" was specially developed by VoenProm LLC in accordance with TU 7399-001-65172309-2014.
The purpose of the helmet
The helmet is designed to protect the head of a fighter not only from bullets of all types of pistols, V50% fragments, but also pistol-machine bullets with a caliber of less than 0.44 Magnum. In addition, the helmet is designed to prevent injury when hitting the head with heavy objects or falling from a height.
It will not penetrate, for example, a powerful 11-mm cartridge from a revolver. The weight of such a bullet is 240 grain. This corresponds to 15.55 grams. Compared to other bullets, a 9 x 19 weighs 5.8g, while a 7.7g weighs a 9 x 21 bullet.
So, a bullet fired at this helmet from a Tokarev pistol could not penetrate it, causing only a slight swelling on its reverse side. The pistol "Yarygin" could not penetrate at allprotection. Armor-piercing cartridge 9 x 19 pierced this helmet, however, like any other.
Splinter protection
As for the fragments, in Russia its standard has been adopted in the form of a steel ball, the diameter of which is 6.35 mm and the weight is 1.05 grams. Tests of the protective qualities of armor are based on the assumption that a fragment flying at a speed of 650 m / s and hitting a helmet should penetrate no more than 50% of the thickness of the armor.
To provide a larger area of protection, a completely new design has been applied to the helmet model.
Design features of a ballistic helmet
Structurally, the "Spartan Bear force" helmet consists of a pair of independent segments. They greatly reduce impact and provide maximum head protection.
In addition, passive cooling is also achieved through their use. As a result, comfort is also increased - the helmet fits better to the occipital region of the head, which is important when it is used in a lying position. This is a polyurethane foam that allows you to absorb impact energy, does not change its properties when changing environmental parameters. It is not afraid of moisture and is extremely resistant to fire. The pillows made in this way do not interfere with their comfortable use in conjunction with active headphones.
If you remove the pads from the helmet, you can see the black inserts. These are air channels for ventilation of the helmet. Pillows are attached using standard Velcro circles.
Mounting peripherals
On the "Spartan" helmet, it is possible to install a night vision device. It is attached to a special shroud.
On the rails located on the sides of the helmet, if necessary, helmet-mounted lights and cameras are installed. Built-in adapters for glasses or headphones. When skydiving, you can connect an oxygen mask.
In addition, the design of the helmet provides for the possibility of installing a special visor, side shields and a special type of ballistic protection for the chin.
From the sides and back of the helmet are Velcro firms, which are used to attach patches or battery compartments. They are necessary for the functioning of night devices. Or you can attach special counterweights to them, which serve to balance when NVG is used (at the back of the ballistic helmet).

Factory-manufactured helmet "Spartan" comes in a fairly soft case, regardless of model and version. There is enough free space inside the case, so, in addition to the helmet itself, you can, for example, store interchangeable covers in it.
