Since a person acquires more and more new relatives throughout his life, the scheme will become more and more branched. Some concepts are well known from childhood: dad, mom, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law. But some are very hard to figure out. For example, who is the wife of the wife's brother? Terms of family relationship are striking in variety. They originated in ancient Russia. The following relationship types exist:

It is interesting that a man is a son-in-law and mother-in-law, and father-in-law, and brother-in-law. The spouses of two sisters are considered brothers-in-law, but sisters-in-law are not the spouses of two brothers. The wife of the wife's brother is not only the daughter-in-law, she is also called the daughter-in-law.

The ability and desire to find a common language with the older generation and live in harmony with them is not given to everyone. Since ancient times, there has been such a tradition that the son brought his wife to the house. She did not dare to argue with her mother-in-law. If the elder brother's wife lived in the house, she tookguardianship of the younger daughter-in-law, helped her get used to the new family, taught all the tricks, shared her experience. When a child appeared in a young family, the brother's wife, the daughter-in-law, helped with the housework: she fed the men and washed them.

This is exactly what a large family that did one thing in common looked like, they were a team. Everything in the house was common, and no one divided anything into yours or mine. The family taught patience, respect, honored the elders. Times have changed, and now it is better for different generations to live separately, as when living together, the number of disagreements increases, which leads to quarrels and divorces. Now they even say that the farther relatives live, the closer they are.
