The pleasant chores of parents expecting a baby are largely associated with the acquisition of everything you need, because the list of things that will be needed immediately after discharge from the hospital cannot be called small. Of course, one of the first on this list is a newborn crib kit, which you will need immediately. There are plenty to choose from: the market offers both sets that include only the necessary minimum, and those in which you can find everything you need, and even more. How to make the right decision?

Baby crib set and bed size

The first thing you should be guided by is the size of the bed and mattress. The Russian standard dimensions of the latter are sixty by one hundred and twenty centimeters, and most of the sets for cribs are made according to them.

But specimens brought from Spain or Italy may differ. So, often such beds have large dimensions of the bed: sixty-five by one hundred and twenty-five centimeters.

These figures are very important, as usually ina set for a baby crib includes a sheet with an elastic band, which should fit the size of the mattress, and a side, the ease of use of which directly depends on them. Thus, the dimensions of the bed are the first thing to pay attention to.

Cribs for newborns, photos of which can be seen in the electronic and paper catalogs of most stores, are equipped in this way, and by purchasing such a set, you can fully equip your baby's bed.

On the one hand, it is convenient, on the other hand, many mothers refuse to use a number of components from this kit quite quickly.

So, the canopy, the main practical purpose of which is to protect the baby from insects, collects a lot of dust and disrupts the natural air circulation. In hot weather, the baby under it will be uncomfortable. Aesthetics, of course, is important, but in practice the usefulness of this accessory is doubtful.

Some mothers for hygienic reasons also refuse to use the side. But here the situation is not so clear. On the one hand, the side also prevents fresh air from entering the bed, on the other hand, it creates comfort and gives the baby a sense of security. When the child grows up and begins to roll over, such soft protection will become a must. Blows against the bars of the bed are unlikely to deliver the babypleasure. Many use it according to the situation: in the heat they take it off or open it at the legs, tying up the extra parts, and in the cold or at normal temperatures they use it in the standard mode. By the way, the sides can be different: for the entire perimeter of the bed or only for half of it.

Another element of the set is a pillow, sometimes not at all like the one intended for a small child. Moreover, the newborn does not need it at all, it does not have a positive effect on the formation of the skeleton.

Thus, when choosing such a kit, you need to think about what will actually be used and what will just take up space on the shelves, and calculate the economic feasibility of such an acquisition. By the way, it is not a fact that buying all the items separately will be more profitable, because it is always cheaper in bulk.

It is unlikely that you will be able to limit yourself to one set for a crib, and in this case there are sets consisting only of bed linen, which is used as a change.

The only synthetic material that can be used in the manufacture of sets for a crib is a padding polyester in the side cushions. All other elements must be only natural. Of course, sometimes a synthetic winterizer is also a filler in a blanket, but this solution cannot be called ideal.

The choice of fillers for pillows and blankets is also rather big: wool, corn or bamboo fiber and others. High-quality kits often have anti-allergenic impregnation.

When buying a set for a crib, it will be important to pay attention to such an addition as a waterproof mattress pad. It can be made in the form of a cover (like a sheet) or be a canvas the size of a bed with elastic bands in the corners. The baby will not always be in a diaper, and as it grows and increases physical activity, the use of waterproof diapers will become uncomfortable.
