Without what is it impossible to imagine a modern living room? Of course, without upholstered furniture, which is not only needed for a comfortable rest after a busy day at work, but also serves as an interior decoration.

It is upholstered furniture that is subjected to significant loads during operation, since all family members, including pets, spend most of their free time on it. In order for upholstered furniture to withstand all the tests with dignity, increased requirements are imposed on it, and the most important of them are reliability, durability and comfort. And here we are talking not only about the design of the sofa itself - increased requirements are also placed on the coating.

What should be the upholstery fabric

Fabric intended for furniture upholstery should be durable, wear-resistant, practical, dirt- and water-repellent, easy to care for. And also it should not fade under the influence of sunlight, be pleasant to the touch, bright and beautiful. All these requirements are met by flock fabrics, which are very widely used in furniture production.

Similar material was used in China in the 1st century BC - the mention of this has come down to our days. It was there that this interesting technology of gluing crushed pile onto a woven base was first invented. The art of making cloth without a loom became known to Europeans only in the Middle Ages.

In modern production, flock fabrics are made, of course, a little differently, but the basis is still the method invented by the Chinese more than two thousand years ago. Now for the production of flock, the method of spraying particles of pile on an adhesive layer applied to a woven base is used. Under the influence of an electrostatic field, these particles stick evenly and strictly vertically.

Flock is also called a substitute for velvet, as short fibers glued to the base successfully imitate the structure of this fabric. Flock is a material whose base is 65% polyester and 35% cotton, and an application of short fibers is applied to this sticky base. Villi can be both natural and synthetic, for example, from nylon. These same villi give the surface of the material a velvety and soft structure, because the furniture fabric - flock - did not get its name by chance. This word is translated from German as "flakes" or "snowflakes".

When choosing a new sofa, pay special attention to the furniture fabric. Flock is a great choice, because it is not for nothing that this material has remained one of the most popular in furniture production for many years. Not only is this fabric resistant to abrasion, but it is also resistant to spilled liquids as it has been treatedwater-repellent impregnation - this is very important when there are small children in the house. She is not afraid of cat claws either - this is one of the coatings that belongs to the so-called "anti-claw" fabrics.

The undoubted advantage of flock is the variety of colors - it's classic, and abstract, and modern. You can choose a color for every taste, especially since many furniture stores offer to choose the upholstery material yourself and order a set of upholstered furniture from the factory in the color scheme that suits your interior.

Flock fabrics are very easy to care for. To remove dust from the coating, simply vacuum it. If the fabric needs to be cleaned, you can treat it with detergent, but do not use products containing alcohol or solvents.
