Porcelain cartridges have a longer service life than their plastic counterparts. The most common ceramic E14 lampholders consist of a ceramic body, copper or brass petals attached to screw contacts, a spring and a skirt where the base is twisted.
Often the skirt is the most problematic element of the cartridge. Selecting a cartridge with a soft aluminum skirt can be a nuisance.
