Every year on May 12, International Nurses Day is celebrated, or International Nurses Day (the name is accepted as worldwide). On this day, everyone should prepare to pay tribute to people who work for the benefit of others, who have dedicated their lives to helping humanity.

It is advisable to prepare special congratulations to the nurse. Perhaps, simple verses, attention and respect will be quite enough. But if you work in a medical institution, you can also prepare some kind of thematic gift that could please all medical staff. It's nice to remind people how important they are to us, because this is what supports their aspirations and inspires them to new exploits.

International Nurse's Day is usually celebrated on the birthday of one of the famous Englishwomen, Florence Nightingale, who organized the very first service of sisters of mercy in the world during the outbreak of the Crimean War (1853-1856).

It was during the hostilities that certain stable stereotypes developed: a nurse is a nurse or a nurse,carrying away soldiers from the battlefield; she stands next to the patient during the operation, and can also provide first aid herself.

According to reliable sources, Russian nuns from the St. Nicholas Convent in the Russian capital went to the front during the Crimean War to join their sisters from abroad and help them nurse the wounded and sick soldiers. Later, the wives of aristocrats also worked helping the hospital workers. It is known that the daughters and wife of Emperor Nicholas I himself also decided to help in a good undertaking.

Such people, who have chosen the most humane profession in the world, should be appreciated, because they are on duty at night at the head of the patient, they forget about themselves, giving all their care and affection to a wounded or sick person. And their lives are truly blessed. Such work is paid with enthusiastic glances, mute gratitude and light in the eyes of someone who is already desperate and has no hope of recovery. There is nothing more beautiful than when one person can benefit many people, can cheer up with a smile everyone who has lost interest in life, who no longer hopes for salvation, who is broken by illness and hardship. Be attentive and at least once a year remember those who are ready to support you in difficult times.

Nurse's Day has been celebrated for about 150 years. However, officially it began to be celebrated only in January 1974. Mankind still remembered the merits of these brave women. International Nurse's Daycelebrate when there was a union of sisters of mercy from various countries, the number of which was 141. A professional public organization was formed - the International Council of Nurses.

Russia is a little behind with the adoption of this holiday. And only in 1993 it was decided to include it in the general list. This suggests that Nurse's Day is a relatively young holiday. It remains to be hoped that the younger generation will be able to feel its significance, having become acquainted with the history of this heroic profession.
