Most cats are kept at home, not even let out for walks. However, this does not mean that the animal is not threatened with infectious diseases.

The fact is that everyone who enters your apartment can infect clothes, shoes. There are many animals on the street, including stray cats and dogs. Of course, among them there are many carriers of various diseases. Vaccination of kittens will not guarantee absolute safety, but it will significantly increase immunity. In this case, even a sick animal will endure the attack of a dangerous virus much easier.
What vaccinations are given to kittens? Among the main ones are vaccinations against:
- rabies;
- rhinotracheitis;
- panleucopenia;
- calcivirosis.
The first vaccination can be waived if you do not plan to let the animal out on the street (or move to a private house). However, unfortunately, no one is immune from accidents. Your pet, for example, may run away and "talk" to an already infected animal. In the absence of vaccinations, the consequences of such a meeting are predictable - your pet can become the cause of infection for everyone who lives in the apartment. Rabies vaccination for kittensinsure against such troubles.

For all animals, a specific vaccination scheme has been developed. Kitten vaccinations are no exception. What is this scheme? When should kittens be vaccinated?
On average, a baby should be vaccinated at 3 months. (12 weeks). However, the timing may vary depending on the type of vaccination.
The drug "Nobivak Triket" is most often chosen. It is administered for the first time at 12 weeks, the second - after three weeks. The combined vaccine allows you to develop active immunity against rhinotracheitis, panleukopenia, calicivirus infection. Revaccination is carried out with another drug - Nobivak Rabies (listed diseases plus rabies).
If circumstances require earlier protection, the first vaccination can be carried out at 8 weeks, the second one at 12 weeks. However, against rabies, kittens are vaccinated only from 3 months. (revaccination not required).
It should be noted that immunity against the infections listed above is developed 10-12 days after the second injection (revaccination).
In the future, the animal is vaccinated annually (once). It is advisable to choose a multivalent vaccine such as Tricat + Rabies ("Nobivac").
Vaccines also have good reviews: Leukorifelin (bivalent), Felovax-4 (quadrivalent), Multifel-4, Vitafelvac.

There are also vaccinations that protect the cat from lichen and dermatoses ("Microderm" (from six weeks)and "Polivak TM" (from 10 weeks)). Revaccination - in two weeks.
In order for kittens to be vaccinated without complications, the animal is first given anthelmintics (10 days in advance) and rid of fleas, ticks, lice and other parasites (if any). Also, extremely important:
- respect vaccination dates;
- use unexpired and good quality refrigerated vaccines;
- do not vaccinate sick (or recently recovered) animals that have undergone surgery, pregnant women, after childbirth, before mating.
In the first day, the vaccinated animal may become lethargic. However, if the discomfort persists for longer, be sure to take the kitten to the vet.
